My family and I have eaten at Cheddar's at least a half dozen times per year, each year since they opened in our area in 2012. As far as franchise restaurants go, it is by far our favorite one. If I had been requested to review this restaurant after ANY of our visits prior to our most recent one, it would have been 5 stars all the way.
However... then our most recent visit happened.
If I were awarding stars based off of my most recent visit to this restaurant, I would, unfortunately, give only two. However, I am choosing to give them the benefit of the doubt, and consider my most recent experience an anomaly. As with 100% of our previous experiences with Cheddar's, the food was FANTASTIC... 10 out of 10 in that aspect... as far as chain restaurants go anyway. However, when eating at a restaurant the overall "experience" is also a factor. Well, at least for me it is. With that being said, our server absolutely needs to be retrained, with a focus on simple politeness and common courtesies. We were there for lunch, they were moderately busy... there was no wait to be seated, and they seemed to have an average of around 4 to 5 active tables per server at any given moment. Our server appeared to be perfectly capable of being efficient, but chose to LITERALLY lean on the wall and flirt with another server for at least 60 seconds in the dining area... while holding the tray of my and my family's food that we had ordered! Every interaction we had with her we (3 of us, all adults... myself, my wife, and my brother who was visiting from out of town) were very polite. Each of us remembered her named, and made it a point to use it when we spoke with her, we said our pleases and thank yous as was appropriate, etc... We are each well into adulthood, and know how to act.
NOT ONCE did our server so much as grin, let alone share a smile with us. She repeatedly rolled her eyes when my brother asked her opinion of two different menu items because he couldn't decide which one he wanted to order. When we were finished eating and she was processing our payment, she stopped off for ANOTHER flirt session with her "friend" before bringing us the card and receipt back, this time in a little nook area near the bar. After about 5 minutes of waiting, and watching as she would make eye contact with any of us at the table, and then just continuing to do her thing with her friend, ignoring the fact that we couldn't leave until she brought our card back. I ended up approaching her on our way out, and asking to have the card back... PITIFUL!!
Ultimately... her piss poor performance cost the restaurant a star in my review... I bet she's crying herself to sleep right now because of it. 🤣🤣
PS: You should totally still eat here. Like I said before... the food was a...

Stopped by Cheddars on Friday night about 6:15pm. This is my first time at this place and it's neat, clean, and very well laid out. This place was hopping with people as they were busy. We got a table fast after putting our name on a list. Our waiter Jonathan came over quickly to take drink orders and give us menus. He came back a short time later and gave us our drinks and took our food order. I ordered the Texas T Bone with a side of Mashed Potatoes and a House Salad. My wife ordered the Grilled Salmon, Baked Potato and House Salad. Our friend ordered the Grilled Chicken Alfredo and a Baked Potato Soup. Jonathan brought out some warm Honey Butter warm Crescent Rolls to hold us over till our main food order comes. These warm Crescent rolls were very good. Our salads were delivered shortly after we were done with the rolls. Our salads were served on chilled plates, and they tasted fresh and were good. Our main orders came out about the time we were done with our salads. My Steak looked amazing, and it was done just perfectly but my mashed Potatoes were ice cold. I told Jonathan right away and he stated he would be back with another one. He did come back fast, and the Potatoes were hot this time. (for the life of me I don't know how you mess up a side like that) My wife’s Salmon was hot and very good but her baked potato was cold in the center. Maybe next time just add the cold sour cream on the side not inside the Potato We could not find Jonathan so we asked another waiter if he could help us. Jonathan did show up and took her baked potato back and stated a manager would know about it. (no manager ever showed up to talk to us) Our friends Grilled Chicken Alfredo was hot and good. The soup was hot and good, but you think they could give you more than 1 small pack of soup crackers to go with it. This was my first time there and I was not impressed. There are a lot of other places that do not serve cold food and would have made sure a manager would have stopped by to talk to us. BTW nothing was taken off the bill either. I can only give this place 3 out of 5 stars because of two cold served foods and one pack of small crackers for soup, no manager showing up and not finding our waiter. I expected better out of this chain.

Read moreTo bad I can't give this 0 stars, but I am not able to post a review w/o at least giving it 1. I was out in York working last night, and my friend suggested that we eat here, as he said it was very good. We went around 6pm, it was not crowded. We sat there a few minutes before our server came over, we ordered our drinks, she said that she would bring the croissant out, we got our drinks a few minutes later, and I noticed that my soda tasted funny, (there was no carbonation, it was basically syrup). We sat there a bit before she finally bought out our croissant, (which was the best thing of the whole meal). I ordered that chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, and corn, I asked if i could get the gravy also on my potatoes, she said yes. After at least 20 minutes our food FINALLY came out, as you can tell by the picture, the gravy (or lack of) on my chicken, they either didn't put enough on it, or it just soaked in from being under the lamp, my potatoes were cold, and there was something on my dish with the corn in it, and I didn't have any gravy on the mashed. She took the potatoes back and brought me a side of gravy (which was also cold). My friend wanted to speak with the manager and the server advised us that he was back in the office "doing paperwork" but he would take 10% off our bill, (we weren't looking for anything at all, just wanted the manager know about our experience) when she brought the bill back, we were charged DOUBLE) My friend again asked to speak with the manager, and again we were told he wasn't able to come out to speak with us, but would take 15% off the bill (again, not looking for anything free or anything, just wanted to let the manager know we were very unhappy with our whole experience. When she gave the bill back there was only $1.65 taken off. We just wanted to leave by this point, but no, this place wasn't finished ruining our evening, as there was more issues as we tried to pay Basically, NO manager, and NO satisfaction at all. ...
