They don’t care about employees or customers. Worked at Deets bbq for about 3 months. I love working in the food industry and I love dealing with customers/people. Everyone was really lovely there from the staff to the customers. When I was hired in they had an awesome general manager Alayna who exceeded GM expectations and had amazing work ethic that everyone should strive to have. I’ve never met anyone who has cared about their customers and someone who will always go above and beyond for their job. About two months in to my job she got promoted, which of course made me sad because I knew she was leaving but I knew she deserved this promotion because she deserved it. We got a a new general manager to take over the store and that’s when it went downhill. She was transferred from the Talmadge location which personally outside of work I have heard bad things about. It was a big change that everyone did not like at all, she is a great girl don’t get me wrong but as an employee, one of the laziest people I have ever worked with who could care less about the store. She did not help us what so ever unless we were in a huge rush, she made me late twice for opening when I was in training to become shift leader and then told me, “we need the food in the oven by 10:15”. Guaranteed it would have been in the oven if she wasn’t late to unlock the door or teach me to unlock the door. I would come into work in the morning with no trash bags in the trash cans and to dirty dishes in the sink. I would ask her about why isn’t stuff being done, her excuse was, “last night was stressful”. To me that’s pure laziness and disgusting to come into a kitchen where there’s dirty dishes and where the long cutting boards which sit on the tables to prep food are stained orange and black from food aren’t even clean. That’s disgusting and no owner nor any employee should allow that! I would try and clean it in the morning and she would just have an attitude saying “we don’t need to worry about that”. Then me and the executive manager had a mishap with there not being an change in the drawer because she didn’t go to the bank for about 5 days to make deposits. So my executive called Trevor one of the owners, spoke to him and apparently Trevor just said “fix it”. For one, it’s not our job to “fix it”. General managers deal with the deposits. Two deposits were counted wrong and then two more weren’t even in an envelope nor did they have a deposit slip. Now me personally when I see this, I believe she could be stealing money especially when our drawer is short about $10-$20 a night! But then again the general manager could just be counting wrong because she told me to my face if she closes the night before and opens the next day, she does not count the drawer in the morning! I was very surprised when the owner did not care and told the exec to fix it because it’s the owners money. Now our GM Kelly would have been able to go to the bank that morning and was scheduled to work the morning, but then changed her schedule because I was told “she didn’t feel like coming in”. I have no idea how they hired anyone with this kind of work ethic to become a GM. People have caught her doing her own payouts from deliveries which you’re not allowed to do. We had a lovely new hire who took 2 deliveries and only got paid for one a WEEK LATER. I told HR this, and told her that Kelly doesn’t help. The response I got was an eye roll and “When Alayna worked here she babied you guys, did the employee get paid?” To which I responded yes, and then she said “then what’s the problem”. You’re supposed to get paid that day of delivery, we couldn’t even find her delivery in the computer because after so many days it’s gone. The employee was very angry about this and told me she was going to quit, same for the exec because the owner Trevor did nothing and Bonnie(HR) was annoyed. So unfortunately I felt the need to quit because if they didn’t care why should I? So I walked out on my break which I have never done and GOT NO RESPONSE. They don’t care about employees...
Read moreSo I decided to take my significant other out to dinner because it's his birthday and I always pass by this place when I go to work. It smelled wonderful outside every time I'd pass by so I've had it on my radar for a while. Well we went today and it was the worst experience I've had in a restaurant in my life. I took a while to order as my eyes are bad and I didn't know what to order which seemed to heavily annoy the employees despite me and my significant other being the only customers there. I tried to order a couple things which they claimed they were out of so I finally settled on the pulled chicken (it was ok). We were waiting for the food to come out and I was looking around at the space and saw the mural above the counter to which I made the comment that the composition was off and the one guy off to the side was gigantic compared to the proportions of the rest of the composition. I observed that this guys head was big (which it was proportionate to his body just big overall in the mural) which was followed by an employee yelling at me about how thats the owner and the things I said were very disrespectful. I was only making an observation and was kind of taken aback by being told off about something minor. I quipped back something I don't remember to which she told me I shouldn't disrespect the owner in his own restaurant which made me immediately want a refund. I however didn't get a refund as I was hoping the food would at least get the bad taste out of my mouth. Now you might say "wow, cool story bro but what does this have to do with anything?" It has to do with I left that place feeling bad about something I shouldn't have been made to feel bad about and I don't care if you are the pope, no one should be above criticism no matter how minor. Not to mention someone so unhinged they think it's ok to yell at patrons over small annoyances you can easily save to complain about later has lost this place my business. She was lucky she wasn't wearing a name badge of any sort because me and my SO left the place more offended than we...
Read moreTo preface this, if you’re looking for delicious bbq, deets sure knows how to make great food and sauce, but this location is by far one of the worst experiences I’ve had in my life. Either the management at this location has changed, or the logistics of the company has changed. I ordered two samplers online using their “toast” service from their website. Before when I’ve done this, I’ve never had an issue. This time however, they couldn’t understand that choosing two meats instead of three (the website states choose between one and three) means to just do half of the total weight of food for each choice. Second. When choosing sides it says to choose up to two. I only choose one because I’ll be honest, the only side I like are the beans, and the only side my wife likes is the Mac n cheese. Every time I’ve done this in the past, the staff understands to just do two of the same side. Not today. Instead they decided to put salads in with our order instead. Additionally apparently they can’t read tickets. Not only did they not notice my online order being in until after I went to the location 5 minutes after the expected pickup time, but they also put the sides in the wrong boxes with their entrees, causing for a very confusing setup to eat at home. I honestly feel bad for the girl who was working the counter. She had to deal with not only my issues but also other patrons who came in after me. The management didn’t even bother to apologize for being negligent to their online ordering system, let alone talk to me. TLDR: unless you feel like waiting over an hour to have some great bbq, you’re better off getting food from another location or going to...
