I decided to do the 5 Day Special at Frickers (Maumee). Yes, I ate at Frickers five days in a row. I’ve been to the Toledo spot but this was my first time ever at this one. Sunday they had the Parkour Chicken Special. It was some crunchy chicken tenders with your choice of side and some dipping sauce. Monday, it was boneless wing night. 10 boneless wings for a little less than $8. I got a side with it too. Some green beans. Tuesday was wing night, 10 wings for $8.90. Wednesday was steak night. You get a sirloin steak, one side and a dinner roll for $8z Thursday was chicken chunk night. You get a plateful for lightly breaded, boneless, chicken bites for $8. My favorite night was either two wings nights. Steak night was awesome BUT I’m still learning the art of steaks. I’m still learning how to order a steak in regards to what cut. The Sunday night special was really heartwarming as it’s the closest I got to feeling like I was eating a Sunday dinner ☺️. I also tried the potato skins, baked beans, brew fries, and baked beans. Everything was delicious. The beer collection at the Maumee spot was robust. Maybe Frickers, should do “flights” so customers can try the all the beers with asking for a taste. Frickers has to be my favorite regional spot in Metro-Toledo. Perhaps my favorite period. Just like with the Toledo location, the staff at the Maumee spot are cool ass Hell, friendly, and nice. From Sunday-Thursday all the bartenders were cool as Hell. I sat at the bar each night and they all were down to Earth, attentive, and resourceful. Mad props to the dishwasher. He’d come out and make small talk as he restocked clean dishes. He’s a very charming, hardworking guy and I feel like he’s a mascot for the establishment; like everyone knows him and looks forward to speaking with him. The patrons are cool too. They have a digital jukebox “TouchTunes” plus a small arcade to the side for the kids. Frickers also isn’t here just carpetbagging. They have a lot of decorations up dedicated to local sports, organizations and the like. Plus they break off local schools and stuff. Frickers is a not just a business but a partnership with the local community. Doing this five day Frickers challenge wasn’t even a challenge…it was pure fun and I always walked away happy and full. Only suggestion is to get some more merch in! I’m tryin to cop a hoodie and some shirts in...
Read moreWent here very recently. We arrive, a party of five, and are shown to a table. This table was then immediately taken from us because another table was being moved there. So we go back to the front. We have to explain to the hostess why we are back, and then she grabs us another table. Waitress shows up and we order two sets of fried pickles and an irish coffee. What comes back is some over cooked and somehow still cold pickles in one basket, and admittedly decent fried pickles in the other basket. The irish coffee tho.....was green, COLORED GREEN, with ice and tasted like milk. So my friends sent back the drink. No big deal. Well it takes about 15 minutes for another one to come out. This time it's the color of coffee with maybe a splash of Jameson. So my two friends go up together to the bar to get another drink, two drinks this time. The bartender girl is nowhere to be seen for the first 5 minutes and nobody else is there, and mind you the place was a little busy but nowhere near packed. They eventually order their drinks and sit down. So after about 40 minutes we do finally get the rest of our food, chicken chunks, again just brought out...but they're cold. When the checks finally came there was a mix up of orders. That happens, i get it, its fine. The waitress did do a really good job of refilling my drink tho, so i dont have ALL bad things to say, i just had a bad...
Read moreI have a theory about this location. You either get really good service and mediocre food, or terrible service and great food. When you go during the afternoon and are wearing the same thing as the person you are dining with, it should be assumed that you are on a lunch hour and that would be a good indicator to not disappear as a server. Check back on your guests after they take a few bites and put the check down. Trust me, nobody wants to wait around to pay their tab.
Last night 5 of us went, 4 ordered food and the 5th stated she would like to order at the end and do a carryout order. Of the 4 that ordered, 3 orders were wrong. 3 draft beers ordered, the first time we got the right beer, the second time we did not. Plates never got cleared from the table, and the server disappeared until my friends wife went to the bar and stated that she was about to walk out on her tab if she didn't get it soon. The takeout order was at 30 minutes before I left, and it didn't appear that it was coming anytime soon.
Management did come over and explain that they were short staffed and offered Fricker's bucks or whatever they are called. We all accepted, but we would have been fine if our server had told us that they were short. Instead, she disappeared after dropping the food off and didn't come back until she was told that we were leaving with or without paying...
