My son and I ate here today, for lunch. We were pretty excited to try it based on many other reviews posted. The restaurant was a little busy, but not slammed. There were a number of empty seats and tables and deff plenty of staff.
The restaurant is in the lower level of a hotel in old town McMinnville. It is well appointed inside and rather charming. There are some tables outside as well, but not in a well defined area. Lots of foot traffic filtering around and through them.
We decided to order the mezze plate of dips and fresh made pita bread as our starter. I chose the lamb pita wrap as my main and my son chose the chicken schwarma pita wrap as his. The lunch menu really only offers a few wraps, salads and starters. Though there are a couple of add ons like kahfta kabobs, chicken kabob etc. these add ins are roughly half the price of an entree salad or wrap plate. We did not try any of these.
The wait staff were friendly, and appeared to keep themselves busy in an efficient manner. However, when our food arrived I was surprised that it was the mains. We had been waiting for our starter for about 25 mins. So I assumed they just missed it or something. When I asked the waitress about it It was explained that it would be out momentarily. It did come eventually, about 8 mins later. For a dip plate. Probably the simplest thing to plate on their whole menu.
Sufficed to say that the rather small table was now crammed with plates to the point that it was difficult to move anything anywhere, even to set down a fork. I personally need time between a starter and a main. I just can’t eat that much that fast as to enjoy it all but not let my main get cold.
The waitress was apologetic and comped my Bloody Mary which was nice, and a very very good Bloody Mary. I would return just for the Bloody Mary. And maybe just. The wrap itself was far too wet and leaked profusely before eventually succumbing to bottom soak and breaking apart. Though nicely plated it was rather bland and uninteresting, I think mostly because the lamb bits showed little to no sign of seasoning or marinade. The pita was nice. The French fries were deff bought in frozen, and the smalls ones were dry while many large ones were limp on the plate. Like the fryer was turned too low maybe?
My sons NA cocktail was really cool, it was a coconut cardamom soda drink. He loves it. If I was to go back for food, I would be very interested in their dinner menu. The lunch menu seems like an...
Read moreI can’t say ENOUGH great things about the experience at Cypress, the staff, the space, the food - 5 stars all around!
We had a private dinner at the restaurant and the event exceeded all expectations! Here are the highlights:
Food: Incredible. From the appetizers to the dessert, everything was on point and delicious. The stars of the show were the Burrata salad (the flavors exploded in your mouth), the Grilled Bavette (with the outstanding yukon potatoes), and the decadent Flourless Chocolate Torte. Big shout out to Travis, the head chef, who personalized the menu for us and engaged with guests
Staff: Amazing. Everyone was super customer focused, from the bartenders to the wait staff - flawless hospitality. Extra thanks to Ben, the manager, for his hands on approach with planning, coordinating and ensuring not only a special space, but a special night.
Space: Classy. The inside space is stylish, sophisticated and had personalized touches for our event. What really impressed us is how the team accommodated our last minute request to alfresco dining and still provided a sleek and...
Read moreLet me start off by saying, I don't always go out of my way to leave a review. However, today is one of those days.
My wife and I stopped by before our trek back to Seattle. Being from McMinnville, I thought I knew all the hot little spots in town. I was wrong...
This place, absolutely took us both by surprise. We were greeted by the MOST lovely hostess. A young woman, cool tattoos, a great smile and personality that was so warm and intoxicating, almost contagious. PS...I can't wait to see what she creates behind the bar.
The food... I ordered the pita wrap, my wife ordered the seasonal Salmon. My dear lord... Every single bite, every single drizzle, every crumb was exquisite. Fresh and bursting with unique flavors, especially the Salmon... Which will be remembered as one of the best I've ever had in my life. It was that good. The two Chefs were obviously on point and quite masterful. It will live on in my memory rent free.
Overall... I didn't want to leave. This place will be remembered. And every time I return to McMinnville, I will be sure to stop by...
