THIS PLACE IS DOWN RIGHT AWFUL. first of the food was just nasty , the fried chicken was bland, the macaroni was watery, the corn bread was hard just a big no. next thing on the board it says the fried chicken was $9.99 when I went to pay it was $15 I told him the board says fried chicken is $9.99 and he was like no fried chicken isnt $9.99 and I was like but that’s what it says on the board and he was like no fried chicken is more expensive than life. I’m just like OK. And mr moore was just straight up disrespectful. he had no idea what was going on in his own restaurant. there was 3 people ordering together and i told him that , and right after i said that he asked me so all 5 of yall ordering together. I JUST SAID 3. next thing is my grandmother asked what they had to serve. He told us look on the board so my grandmother asked for some green beans. He said we don’t have green beans my grandmother asked again well then what do y’all have? he said LOOK ON THE BOARD so my grandma asked for spaghetti which because spaghetti was on the board he said no we don’t have any spaghetti. OK well then that’s when she asked for some dressing which was also on the board. He said there was no dressing and we’re like OK so why tell me to look on the board and you dont have anything thats on the board just straight up disrespectful The next thing is they’re cleanliness that place was just straight up filthy the floor hasn’t been cleaned for like 10,000 years. The bathroom was a straight up, nasty, rusty, dusty, and musty. I took a peek in the kitchen and it was just dirty. There was a whole bunch of dirt and trash, and there was water leaking from the ceiling. and the sink was brown and rusty. zero out of 10 would definitely not recommend but if you’re into disrespectful employees, nasty food and a dirty atmosphere. My male coworker told me about the $9.99 lunch that included a drink. The elderly cashier, I’m assuming Willie, was so RUDE and argumentative!! I’m not sure if he has an issue against women, but the way he was talking to the women customers was unprofessional. Also, the food was subpar.

Grabbed a tray for my plate and they were so greasy. Willie hollered across asking what we (the ladies) wanted to eat. The meat was displayed in front behind glass, but not the sides, so when you ask what sides they have Willie throws a fit and points to the right side of the menu.

I asked at the register was a drink was included, since my male coworker received one. Owner immediately went off, saying lunch specials don’t include a drink. I asked for water, he said bottled water only for a fee, free no water cup. Accused me of paying the white man’s prices, but wanting a discount for Black business owners. I was in shock and confusion the entire encounter. Then he told me to stop smiling. My total was 10.91. He was so mad that he kept putting my debit card number in wrong, I was starting to think he was overcharging me. He disrespectfully slid my debit card on the counter, forcing picking me up like I was in the African American in the Jim Crow era. He tried to do the same with my receipt, but I quickly put my hand under so he couldn’t do it again.

The sides with my fried pork chop was canned turnip greens & dry dressing. The cornbread was unnecessarily sweet.

May 29, 2022 visit-We ordered 3 breakfast meals (14.99 and 12.99) and (bottled) water AND asked for onions to be added to my eggs. The owner said no to the onions, that would take to long , they have a system PLUS, EVERYTHING is cooked fresh. The total was 53$. No biggie. (But we took the bottled water off.) New total 45$. Meal arrived - instant grits, the hash brown was like the ones from McDonald’s, the sausage was the Jimmy dean the eggs were unseasoned and scrabbled hard, the bacon almost burnt, the only decent item on the plates were the pancakes. The server that brought the food asked if we needed anything (after we saw him bring another table something). We initially said no. But HE offered a cup of water from the fountain. Then went to get it and returned EMPTY handed. And said the OWNER told him we couldn’t get any water unless we paid for it. He stated the cups aren’t free. At the end of the meal I asked Mr. Moore why. He said “I’ve been in business 52years” (I told him I was dissatisfied with the service and wouldn’t return) … “folks pay the white man” (we paid 45$ for breakfast)… “I don’t give discounts” (we didn’t ask for a discount - mom 68, one daughter Desert Storm Vet, other daughter still serving Army) … “what are we talking about” - mr. Moore was very rude and obnoxious. I was sad I had recommended we “support” the establishment. In spite of all the issues (flies, dirty counters, sticky floors etc) I saw PRIOR to ordering AND I’m disappointed that someone who claims to have marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr would treat patrons to his establishment in that manner.
