Today I was pleased to meet Claudia Maitre D at Umbria Caffe on West Ave in Miami Beach. A beautiful cornerstone cafĂ© with umbrellas and beautiful views of Miamiâs intercostal architectural tapestry (dwellings facing Downtown Miami and Biscayne Bay). The colors are immersive and blending with Miami days and nights while you enjoy a warm or chilled beverage prepared by none other than a maestro named Dean. Adding even more to my experience at Umbria Caffe was the chemistry between Maitre D Claudia and Master Barista Dean. They cared not only that I enjoyed my coffee, by leaning in, they insisted that I enjoy my self. In todayâs rushâem in and out service, where tables are timed and tips are nightly news, this felt like a Lavender Latte [extra lavender and extra honey] with an âI love youâ for nothing. And then I tasted my latte and there was confirmation. One, that God, is real đ€Żđ€€. Two, Claudia and Dean really know what theyâre doing at Umbria Caffe. Just Go! Order to your taste, but youâve got my go-to order up top! You will love it! [đ Bitten by the Lavender latte.]
Special Lavender Addendum!
So, several days after my amazing Lavender Latte By Dean, Presented By the Great Claudia, I had to double back. Instead of my expectant pleasure of my seeing three newest reasons to stan. Surprised! I found the brightest smile on Billieâs face as she wondered why i was smiling so big. I knew I was gonna or a Lavender Latte and that I was going to order double lavender and double honey and that I would soon be in my own little happy place. Ah. Eventually, Iâd get there but not without instigating a battle of the bands so to speak. Only this was that southern grace and who makes the best Lavender Latte. Presenting Master Barista Noah, Maitre D Billie was brilliant, you can that she and Claudia are on âze same pageâ. To top it off, Noah was charismatic and charged up! Made my morning! He heaped lavender and laughter into my latte and Billie added gobs of honey. They...
Read moreThe best coffee shop on South Beach to have a Lavender Latte! If I want the Lavender Latte, I always go specifically to this cafe because I know that its flavor will be perfect! I usually drink it iced, but the hot version is very tasty too. The coffee they use for drinks is very flavorful. Also, this coffee shop has a nice tea selection. They can make them hot or iced, itâs up to you. I personally ordered iced Earl Grey tea a few times, and it is definitely my favorite flavor. In addition, this place has a nice selection of pastries. I tried croissants a couple of times, and they were always fresh, soft and tasty. The prices in this coffee shop are typical for South Beach; I would call them reasonable. For example, for a medium-sized Lavender Latte, I pay $6.80. The cafe is nicely designed and always impeccably clean. It has a big indoor area, and also a large outdoor area with many tables and umbrellas. The staff who work at this place are sweet and friendly. They make orders pretty fast; Iâve never had to wait long. Plus, Iâve never had a situation where I didnât like my drink and had to ask a barista to remake it. I love the crowd at this coffee shop. A lot of nice, good-looking people come there to have drinks, hang out, or work. The atmosphere is always chilled and positive. Unfortunately, the cafe is kind of away from the beach. My only wish for its perfection would be an Ocean Drive/Collins Avenue location, which would be easily accessible from the beach. But I like the fact that the cafe is located in a quiet residential and peaceful corner of South Beach, and it is not very noisy there. I absolutely recommend this coffee shop if youâre searching for one in South Beach. And do not forget to try the...
Read moreI stumbled upon Umbria Cafe early in the morning during my run in South Beach after realizing I was out of coffee at home. Just a few blocks from my place, I found this cozy spot and ordered a single espresso. The gentleman asked if it was for here or to go. I said for here. To my surprise, the espresso was served in a proper porcelain cup with a small glass of sparkling water. I was shocked.
I have visited countless coffee shops across the U.S., including the so-called fancy ones like Starbucks, and none have ever served espresso the authentic Italian way with water on the side. That simple gesture instantly transported me back to Italy in Rome, Milan, or Florence, where espresso is treated like an art form.
The coffee itself was rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. The sparkling water added the perfect touch, refreshing and ideal for cleansing the palate after a delicious espresso. That moment alone earned this café five stars.
If you appreciate true coffee culture, Umbria Cafe is a gem...
