Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. We went with a group of 5 to celebrate a birthday. Our table's lighting was a little too dark, but I believe it's due to the new COVID-19 spacing guidelines. The table was placed in an area that it may have not originally been meant for. There were no lights pointed at our table so it made the menu difficult to read however it wasn't a deal breaker. Food: We started with the Mangalitsa Ravioli and the Bone Marrow. I recommend both if you're feeling the splurge. Loved both of them! They give you a special spoon to scoop out the bone marrow, it was so useful! Our group had some members who hadn't tried bone marrow before and they loved it. If you love rich, beefy flavors or are a fan of the fattiness on a steak, bone marrow is indulgent and very thick in beef and fat flavor. The portion sizes of their appetizers are generous. Fred made sure we had enough to share without over-ordering. Some group members also ordered the Lobster Bisque, the soup of the day and the house salad. All were 10/10. Steaks were seasoned and cooked perfectly, using very high quality meat. It was nice to see they had Japanese Wagyu and Domestic Wagyu on the menu. If you are interested in trying Wagyu without paying the price for the Japanese version, try the domestic one. We've had both at other places before and were very excited with the quality at Carnevor. The Alaskan crab legs were also amazing. The sides are large enough to share family style. For the sides, our table shared the Truffle Mashed Potatoes with Lobster, Mac and Cheese, Caramelized Brussels with Bacon. All were so good. I could order the mashed potatoes alone and be completely happy! We also had their take on Tiramisu for dessert, called the Pick Me Up. Presentation, flavors and portions on all of the food is world class. Service: Our server, Fred, was fantastic. He provided excellent wine pairing suggestions, checked on us just enough and gave us space to eat when we needed. They also put a card on the table that read Happy Birthday for our birthday guest, that was a nice touch that showed they really go above and beyond. They also surprised our table with a donut dessert and a birthday candle. Due to the size of our table, they gave us two desserts which was a wonderful surprise. Usually most restaurants only give you one birthday dessert. The level of service here is top notch. There is also valet parking in front of the restaurant for $7. Very reasonable if you are there for a special occasion or date. It's so worth it if you don't want to search for downtown parking and walk a few blocks, especially in the winter and if any ladies in your party are wearing heels. Management also came by the tables to ensure everything was satisfactory. Whenever I see that at a restaurant, I know they are well organized. Highly recommend for any special occasions, date nights, anniversaries, birthdays, or if you're just feeling an indulgent dinner. Thank you, Fred, and team Carnevor for making our friend's birthday so amazing.

I wanted to not like it, honestly. I have my favorite spot, Palmers, near my home. They do a fantastic job, the price is amazing and they're just a great spot. I travel a lot for work and as such, have had amazing meals all over. That spot is on par with all the greats: Keens in NYC, St. Barts in Indy, Mannys in Twin Cities, Sullivans in Omaha. I wanted to just keep Palmers my favorite local spot. We stopped at Carnevor for a late dinner on a Friday before a show at the Riverside. We thought it was a tad dark when we sat down but a beautiful building. The bread came with a delicious spice infused butter (cumin, chili flakes and garlic). It was amazing. We quickly scanned the menu and ordered. We started with the calamari for a starter. I wanted the octopus but the wife hates octopus. The calamari was delicious and did not disappoint. I ordered the 10 oz filet medium rare and the misses ordered the steak salad. My filet was absolutely perfect; it was tender, had a nice seared crust. Perfect. The wives salad (I thought she was silly for ordering) was incredible. Fresh avocado, nice greens with the same perfect tenderloin on it. To be clear, i would never order a salad at a steakhouse but if i did, I'd want it to look like this. For sides we ordered the lobster Mac n Cheese and Brussel Sprouts. The lobster Mac N Cheese for me was a highlight of the meal. They used a delicious fusilli noodle, a creamy but not to heavy of a cheese and a healthy amount of lobster. I'm not even a big fan of Mac N Cheese but this was absolutely exceptional. Five Star. To finish off, we were full but I'm a huge fan of pistachio. Carnevor has a pistachio crème brûlèe. Another home run. It was light, creamy and just fantastic. I'm honestly running out of adjectives here. One thing I haven't mentioned was the service. The service was great. We're both ex-servers so we know what good service is and appreciate when it's high level. The team that waited on us was top notch. In all, I don't know that they dethroned my favorite but they damn sure made an impression. We will without any doubts, be back. Thanks for the great meal Carnevor!

This is the first time I've been to the new location. I do prefer this spot to the original. It pains me to write this review because for a long time I felt this was the best not only steak joint but best restraunts period in the city. However that was not the case on this night and there were more misses than hits for our dinner. It was a slow Tuesday the 1st of September. We started with the rock shrimp app and the pork ravioli. The shrimp had a nice light breading and the sauce was average. It honestly could have been poured out a bottle with the label, Kraft on it. A few simple lemon wedges would of really helped it out. New was the ravioli which I've had previously and was fantastic. This time it was barely warm, and the pasta itself was thick, under cooked and gluey tasting, not good. Next we decided to try for another app and went for the maple bourbon glazed thick cut bacon. Why did nobody suggest we try this? This is a must order for every table on every night. It was the best thing we ate this night and I would never come here and not order it. In fact we debated ordering a second one, it was THAT good! The contrast between the greens, and the gastric and the bacon was pure heaven. Next was on to the lobster bisque which we often try everywhere we go. This had a strange off putting taste and was very gritty. The lobster was sweet and tasty but it was not enough to save the dish. It was time for the main course. We were going to split the 60 day dry aged ribeye cooked to medium rare. Combine that with butternut squash risotto and truffle mash. We also decided to add on some scallops for good measure. Since we were splitting the steak we said they could cut it and put it on 2 plates for us. To our complete shock, this $95 reserve cut came out blue. I mean completely raw in the middle. With just a glance I could tell, I mean they did cut it, could they not have seen this? When touched it was cold, like under room temperature cold. I normally send nothing back and don't feel like I'm to critical but for this place and this price, I had to. The staff was excellent as always and whisked it away and in a few short minutes it came back out and it was pretty good. Not great, like I've had steaks here in the past, but ok. I felt it was much smaller than the size listed and probably should of went with something else. I would never get this cut again as I've had much better around town, or Vegas. The scallop add on was just pathetic. First $16 for 2 that were not much bigger than a quarter. Ouch. Second, they were rubbery with no color and just plain terrible. Avoid ordering those at all cost. The risotto was very nice and the mash were very good. In fact the second best thing we ate all night. We followed that up with a chocolate cake dessert which was the third best thing we ate. No coffee was offered and that would of been fantastic with it. We did also have a bottle of wine with dinner. For a almost $300 dinner for 2 I left feeling very cheated. When I thought about this meal in the following days I actually was mad. Luckily this was not my first time there, if it was I for sure would never go back. There are just to many other places with superior food. I cannot justify the price to dine here anymore after this meal. The staff overall were very nice and did a great job. I did find it odd that nobody said anything about the steak being basically raw

Carnevor Steakhouse Moderne, situated in the heart of downtown Milwaukee, has been a top-tier fine dining spot since its debut in 2006. Celebrated for its outstanding steak selection, Carnevor offers USDA Prime and Japanese Wagyu beef, along with fresh seafood and an array of shareable sides. Executive Chef Mario Giuliani helms the kitchen, ensuring the restaurant consistently lands on "best of" lists for its superb culinary experiences. In January 2016, Carnevor moved to 718 N. Milwaukee Street, the former location of Umami Moto. This relocation brought a revamped menu and refreshed interior, enhancing the restaurant's sophisticated dining ambiance. The new space includes a temperature-controlled wine cellar and retains a similar seating capacity to its previous site. Here’s how my experience unfolded… The meal began with a delightful half loaf of bread accompanied by whipped garlic butter, perfect for dipping in the Wagyu Jus. The Wagyu Brisket appetizer set the tone for the evening, featuring braised Feller’s Ranch Wagyu beef, potato gnocchi, and brisket jus. For the main course, I opted for the 16-ounce Bone-in Fillet Au Poivre. This wet-aged, bone-in tenderloin was cooked to a flawless 146° and served with morel mushrooms and a decadent lobster mac & cheese, enhanced with Parmesan, goat cheese, and bleu cheese. To conclude, I chose a unique dessert: blood orange sorbet, paired perfectly with my signature cappuccino. Carnevor offers valet parking, an elegant setting, excellent service, and outstanding cuisine, making it a must-visit on any culinary journey. My server, Michael, was exceptional, and I appreciated the attention to detail, such as a staff member dedicated to keeping my glass full. A special thanks to General Manager Mark for his warm hospitality. Highly recommended!

The service is fantastic. Someone came to check on us on average, every 2 minutes and 42 seconds. Our waters were always full, bread was always available, and the wine glasses were kept at the appropriate levels. Eric really did a bangup job making our evening feel special. The wet aged ribeye was very flavorful and cooked to the perfect internal temperature. I do wish they would get a better sear on the outside as the 20oz had very little crust on the medium rare. Also, skip the foie gras topping and go for the Oscar king crab The mini twiced baked potatoes must have required hours of labor and were perfectly textured. However, a Gouda cheese would have been far better than the slightly funky tasting, pallette invading choice the chef made. I could say the same for the creamed corn. I don't know why they took a perfectly easily core side and threw in cheese reminiscent of an old gym locker. Just char it and finish it with some heavy cream and Cajun seasoning. Instead, the corn tasted as if it had been left to ferment and pulled out a but early. The bread was great. Soft on the interior and crunchy on the exterior. Perfect for the herbie garlic whipped butter. The bone marrow was very good but over priced, ringing in at $22 for maybe 8 spoonfuls. They were very kind and served us free homemade donuts since we were celebrating our anniversary in their establishment. They might have the most impressive wine selection in the city. I highly recommend the Château Noaillic Mèdoc 2019. It pairs well with a full flavored steak. Between two of us, we spent $350 in total. I've spent less and gotten far better at Michelin Star restaurants. Good, but I won't be revisiting on my dime.
