A whole bunch of stars, friends. I’m at a loss for superlatives that could describe Discourse at the Radio Milwaukee location. So I’m gonna go ahead and concoct one of them portmanteaus that touches on the level of superness here: Maxcellegendary. Yep. That’ll do.
Here’s them things at the Disco that are such: your hosts. They are all squarely maxcellegendary. They’re artists. Spirits of old. Knowers of wondrous things. And dang it… just purer lovely folks.
And also some other things top of the mind that are top of the class: food, drinks, atmosphere, seating, layout, music, restrooms, and clientele.
This ain’t necessarily relevant and all, but I was here the other day… or there, depending on my current position in relation to the thing… and this woman I used to travel with sat down in front of me. No words. Just rattled her lean frame into a chair 'cross the main table and sat there all wooden-like.
I couldn’t believe what I was seein’. I’m sure I looked shocked as all get-out, seein’s how I hadn’t heard from her in nearly a decade. Just sat there portraying affection with them soft, canyonwide eyes.
I could almost hear her unmuddled, transparent mind still calculating the reasonable ok-ness of all them subterranean fellas. Got me wondering if she was here just to take another whack at justifying her stable of trolls.
Aw, who cares at this point. Yeah, she was a mild minty toxin and a thinly veiled menace. But to be fair and all, I was nooooo angel. She probably didn’t know I was real fine friends with her cousin. We used to roll like a Boomer in a Buick with cloth seats: relaxed, undone, and indifferent to the whole thing.
Anyways… she’s a curious creature alright. There she was sittin’ right in front of me, stirring her dreamy Disco drink with an L.A. Gun index finger. Just slowly trolling the depths of the glass while smiling at me with overthrottled, blank loveliness.
It's alright though. Way back then we were just two kids in love. Or at least over-curated lust.
Gaaaaaawwwwd almighty, I am so done with muses. Now go on and get over to the Disco. Then you can be...
Read morei am saying this with my whole chest there is absolutely no place that i adore more than discourse coffee! the staff are INCREDIBLY kind and beyond talented (and extraordinarily fashionable as well… they always have the most exquisite outfits and beautiful jewelry on) they make an effort to learn the names of their customers which personally means a lot to me!!! they’re so helpful when it comes to picking out a beverage which you’ll love (PLUS it’ll have the most stunning latte art and garnishes you’ve ever seen!) when it comes to the drink choices… you can never go wrong. literally every single latte/tea/other creation i’ve had from there has been such an amazing experience and so beyond creative! the coffee is delicious and you can tell that everyone who works there is super passionate about what they do and put so much care into every single drink (EVEN IF THERES A RUSH!) the lana del fog changed my life. i don’t even like london fogs normally but this is my comfort drink! the food is also so so good… they use high quality ingredients and you can def tell a difference! (also please bottle that house salad dressing it kinda changed my life) in terms of coffee right now, they have a david lynch inspired experimental menu and i have gotten to try 3/4 of the drinks and they’re incredible… especially the “man in the planet” latte inspired by eraserhead… it’s an absolute must and im sure all of my friends are so sick of me talking about it! it’s served in a really beautiful black mug on a saucer that looks like it could be in the film (sick as hell!!!!!) and trust any other drink is going to come in a beautiful dish (anything from a coupe glass to a flower shaped mug fit for a fairy). all in all, this is such a gem and such an important place in milwaukee. i LOVE coffee and these are the best lattes ive had anywhere in the world. i am so excited to see what’s in store for them, and once again i want to mention how amazing every single person who works there, and they’ve created such a special place and i truly appreciate all of their hard work! they deserve all of the success...
Read moreBeen here a few times. And have always been impressed with the helpful/professional service, and the quality of the beverages and food. The main entrance is at the corner. And then the order counter is right there. Plenty of windows and natural light.
The menu board is center, and up high. Easy to read. They also have some hard copy menus. It's a relatively efficient setup. There are a couple of different areas for seating. The counter behind the baristas, the high tops along the south wall, and the back area with different tables/chairs configurations. (I wish they had a bit more seating in the back areas, perhaps putting some smaller table up again the garage doors)
Usually show up on Saturday mornings. Got there this morning with a short line to the counter. There isn't a well established procedure for the line inside, so very often the line ends up out the door and onto the sidewalk. The baristas always seem to greet you with a genuine smile and patient service. Today I had another great service experience, with a personal recommendation on the pastry (thanks Vaughn - great job!). he menus are very unique. They have the usual offering, but you can also get some crazy sounding lattes.
Today, I got the London Del Fog (their version of a London Fog). I asked for a china mug (no problem), and it was perfectly exquisite. It paired perfectly with a Chocolate Guava Croissant. (I did wish that they had Scones on the menu, but then I would not have the pleasure of the Croissant).
The place can go from mildly busy to jam packed with standing room only in a matter of minutes. Which also means that quiet casual conversations can turn into, leaning in to listen and using your outdoor voice.
Overall great venue, with super professional baristas and staff. Definitely an easy goto for a...
