TZone Monterey — Restaurant in Monterey

Great boba teas but please read the ingredients as it contains red 40, 3 and yellow 5. Service depends on the mood of staff as they can be very rude. I used to buy boba in there and depending on who is serving it’s a rip off as they add less of the ingredients and everyday is different. I usually tip 30% but staff is still very rude with the exception of a few. The other day I walked in, it was 8:30 pm and they close at 9:00pm one of the employees was mopping the floors. I politely apologized and asked if I was bothering him and he literally said yes you are bothering me. The customer next to me could not believe his rudeness and told him they close at 9:00 pm and that he should not talk to people like that. There was this other customer who bought 4 boba teas and the stuff did not warn him to hold the bottom of the carrier case . The customer ended up dropping all four bobas and when he went back into the store, and the employee rudely told him it was too bad and that he had to wait 20 minutes if he wanted him to remake it. It was not even busy and I saw the look of disappointment on the customers face. He said he will post a review on yelp. Everyday I get 10 servings of boba and everyday the level of the cup is different depending on the mood of the staff. I can tell some of them are very racist and don’t like Hispanic looking people. There is one particular guy there with blond curly hair and green eyes who is very racist and always very rude refusing to even respond when I say thank you. I wish they could figure out a way of not ripping the customers off. This employee was very rude to me as if he will get rich by ripping me off on behalf of the owner. The other day a girl in a bad mood tried to charge me 14 dollars for boba tea and finally changed the price when I confronted her. I have finally found a way to get boba online and make my tea home. Many foods have dyes in it. But I would not recommend Tzone because of the rudeness of the employees. My friends who had the same experiences will be posting their...

I’m not writing this to hate, I would like to just point something out.

9 times out of 10 they are out of boba. Super disappointing because they are a BOBA shop, but I’m lucky to catch them at a time with boba. And if they do have some in stock it’s usually old and you can tell it’s been sitting out for a while. I’m a huge boba tea drinker so I try to come here a few times a week. Their drinks are delicious, just tired of being disappointed. I hope this review finds management so they can keep boba (and other common ingredients) more in stock.

Also a few months ago, I noticed management did a clean out of employees and hired all new people. Things were better for a while and boba was consistently stocked. Sadly overtime it’s gone back to the way before.

This place would be the best boba shop in Monterey if they weren’t constantly out of things. I understand sometimes things are out of your control, but every time I ask how long until more boba will be ready they tell me about an hour. I’ve actually tried to go back an hour later and still none. This leads me to believe they just aren’t making it out of laziness. I worked in food industry before and I understand it’s not always fun. But you can’t be a boba shop with NO BOBA 😂

I will continue to go, because as I said I do love their drinks, would just love more...

While we were walking in Monterey last June (2023) , we came across Tzone primarily because we say passion fruit plant that was growing in a pot. We love passion fruit so obviously went inside the store not sure what really to expect in terms of the drinks or food.

We first admired the passion fruit plant and then went towards the register to see what they were offering. It is mainly a drink place with various flavors of teas (bubble, Thai, flavored). It was quite a selection and sounded all good but my wife wanted to make sure it was not too sweet but also get something other than standard. That's where Eli comes in. He was so friendly and helpful. he took time to explain how TZone was different and better. He explained each of the choices and what goes into each of the drinks (type of tea, sweetener, fruit or other flavors, etc). He helped my wife select the right drink based on her likings and he even agreed to make it less sweet. My wife loved the tea as it was not very sweet

Overall place is big and quite airy and well lit. Very clean and plenty of space to sit and relax.
