We recently visited (11-17-2023 about 11:14 pm) Mandalay Bay resort casino and decided to stop by Hazel Coffee and Cocktails. This turned out to be a waste of time. Let me explain. After a flight and check in, we decided that we'd go out in search of cocktails. We had passed Hazel on our way up, and strolled down. There was no greeter, so we seated ourselves. The bartender was busy chatting and taking care of his few seated patrons and made no eye contact with us but we found seats anyway. A few minutes went by, a woman that looked like a waitress passed by with no eye contact, another was busy cleaning up something a few feet away with a lobby broom and pan. A few more minutes went by, the place was mostly empty BTW. The bartender continued to ignore us. Finally, my wife caught the eye of someone with a tray who was also trying to ignore us (perhaps we didn't look like big tippers). When she came over and asked her what we wanted, my response "better service, we have been here for a while" didn't sit well with her and her attitude returned it. End result, we left and found another place, spent a hundred bucks or so and enjoyed ourselves immensely.
Lesson, Hazel - greet or make eye contact with the folks who pay your wages, and perhaps take an order before policing the area for...
Read moreWe went here after a show for a cocktail pre-pandemic. Wife said it was the best espresso martini ever. We were in Vegas last week and went to Mandalay solely to hit up this lounge. No cocktail menus anymore, very less upscale feel and 'greeted' by a bartender who looked annoyed that we asked for drinks on a Friday night at 9pm. That bartender appears to be the same shown in the picture from a review a year ago by Margie. Honestly his presence was just saddening. He was barely able to speak more than two words to any customer. He mumbled something to me so I said pardon, and then he mumbled again 'what bourbon?'. He almost sarcastically responded when I asked what the house bottle was. Way to make Vegas fun fella! We had one drink and left even though the musician was good and crowd was decent. Mandalay Bay, you should demand better. Oh and the drink was average at best. Thrown together quick and dirty and didn't even have...
Read moreWe had food delivered to take up to the room and realized they didn’t include a fork. I asked the bartender for a fork to take up to the room, we were not drinking or staying at the bar/cafe. He insisted on seeing my ID before giving us a fork (I am 29)??? I even clarified with him that we were not staying or ordering alcohol, just grabbing a fork to go. My wallet was up in the hotel room, so my friend offered to show her ID if it meant we could have a fork. He said it did not matter, he only needed to see my ID, and refused to give us a fork. So we left without a fork. It was the absolute most inconvenient, unprofessional, ridiculous, rude interaction I’ve ever had. Coffee was not...
