A unique spot, that is easy to miss. On this occasion we had come straight from a wedding so we were throughly overdressed. The vibe in this place is good. With loud old school rock music, video screens and lighting really setting the scene. Overall it was a good time. So why the 2 stars? Well the problem is they stole from me. Not money or anything or intrinsic value, but they stole my nonetheless. Like I said we're had just come from a wedding and at that wedding we were given light up items, boa's etc. One such item was a light up tambourine, a really cool item to bring back to our kid. Alas after being at Vintage Rock Club for 30 minutes or so a man I assume was a bouncer grabbed my arm and told me I needed to remove the tambourine (it was around my wrist), I asked him why, he said I was not allowed to have it, I asked him why, he created himself, I asked if I could just put it in my pocket, he repeated himself again. Not wanted trouble, or to ruin your the night I removed it because this is guy seemed on edge and never looked me in the eye. He took it and placed it on behind the bar. After a feeling minutes I asked a bartender if I could get it back and put it in my pocket, no harm no foul. She was uneasy at that request as she didn't want to upset "security" but she said she would give to me when we left. Fast forward about another 30 minutes and the tambourine was gone, the bartender looked for it but it was gone. It's a minor gripe, sure, it's just a small item, but the principal of the matter is at play here. A man treated me like a child, didn't use reason or commonsense it even explain himself. He took something from me because he could. I don't go downtown a lot, and beside this experience with this hollowman I actually had...
Read moreDon’t even waste your time coming here. This was a dead bar on a Friday night, with a strict dress code that is only for men to be wearing pants. They scalped myself and other members of my group for 20$ “pants” which were basically just scrubs to put over our shorts -which made more sense to wear on a hot New Orleans evening. The bouncers also had the audacity to call us broke for not wearing pants, and the second we started taking them off because we were leaving they appeared out of nowhere to escort us off the property (I was literally in a corner outside minding my own business preparing myself to walk to another bar). Also the drinks are ridiculously expensive and you’re better off paying those prices literally anywhere else in the city.
Overall a miserable experience for a very large group that made up 90% of the people in the establishment. Also to the bouncers; you’re the broke boys working a door at a bar well past your 40s and incredibly fortunate to not have ended up...
Read moreGreat name and therefore great expectations. We were there early and it started out very well; music was good and what I expected as Vintage Rock. But, as the night wore on and the crowd grew, we were poisoned by Footloose and other cheesy ballads- definitely not the Rock of my youth. Where was the Def Leppard, Judas Priest, Van Halen, and Zeppelin? It was a mixed bag man... The drinks were ok and the staff were Indifferent. One thing I really liked was the interior. The entrance with Prince was cool (imagine if they played his video appearance at the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame tribute to George Harrison, “As my guitar gently weeps”?! It would have been redemption as it is probably a Top 10 guitar solo. It definitely put the heavy weights on stage to shame). Back to my review.....the interior really was cool and the balcony was a big plus. I couldn’t give them 5 Stars though; they have more to do to...
