Bear Donut — Restaurant in New York

I was excited to visit after work (since earlier this week I came but realized they were close on Mondays) because of all the popular reviews - the Donut and soft serve combination was a little over $10 with tax. Which is alright for having two items to try and I had added tip on top of this amount because I asked to pack the donut separate. But in my honest opinion, since I have already tried several mochi donut spots in the city, it was a little high for the lacking portion of soft serve I received.

So a caution I would share is that you may not get the same portion that some people are posting photos of or like on their website (I took one tiny spoon scoop off the top because it was starting to melt) but you see the general quantity I received- which is barely above the rim with a small sample size spoon. It was not as generous as some other reviewers’ images… I asked if they could make it “to go” but the woman told me they did not have covers for the soft serve. I said it was fine, but asked if they could just pack the donut separately.

The mochi donut was made same day because you could tell it is soft. The coffee flavor is strong which is nice because I was worried it would be a more subtle taste (I ordered the coffee toffee). The soft serve menu is standardly two options: Milk for their standard flavor and seasonal (lavender, currently).

Hope my photos help! Still a nice place to try- but I am not convinced it’s somewhere I would visit again due to the portion for the price point. I rather go to my regular spot in k-town for desserts if I am looking for something sweet...

This is the cutest and one of the yummiest donut store I have ever been to! 🤌🏻Not only their donuts are on the next level (both visually and tastiness), the interior of their cafe is also great for photos! 😎Their donuts are made freshly every morning and they have many unique flavours! I was having a very hard time choosing a flavour to get hehe, some of the flavours that caught my eyes were: Pistachio, Pink Chocolate, Coffee Toffee and Crunch Chocolate! 👀Other than donuts, they also serve fresh coffees and teas (Their cup design is so so cute, I loved it!). 🤪This time, I tried….

🍩Crunch Chocolate Glazed Donut 🍩 I loved this donut, it was not overly sweet, just right for my liking! 👌🏻The crunch on top of the donut was definitely the highlight hehe. ✌🏻I really liked the crunchiness, chocolate flavour and the mochi inside the donut! It was a yummy piece of treat! 😚

☕️Fresh Brew ☕️ I always love my coffee black in the morning! I can tell that their coffee was freshly made as it was very comforting and not sour/bitter. I really enjoyed the coffee! 🫣

I really love the design of their seating area! It was bright and vibrant, I feel an atmosphere of happiness being in there 😌(along with seeing all those donuts too!) haha! I will definitely be back once I come to NYC again! 🤍✨

This was my first time stopping into Bear Donut while visiting NYC. I am a big fan of donuts and was curious to check out some of their mochi donuts. Of the mochi variety we tried the Raspberry, Coffee Toffee and Cookies & Cream. We also sampled a Strawberry filled yeast donut.

The Coffee Toffee was our least favorite. The Raspberry wasn't bad. The Cookies & Cream was a home run... definitely my favorite of all four! The mochi donut texture was nice. I will say, the icing on the donuts was very crumbly as the donuts were eaten, however this did not affect the taste in any way.

My friend is a bigger fan of filled/yeast donuts than I am, and the Strawberry filled was his favorite of the bunch! The filling of that one wasn't goopy, rather it was thick and fluffy. I really enjoyed the filling a lot more than I anticipated due to the consistency of it. It wasn't overly sweet either which we both really enjoyed

They have other offerings beyond donuts but we didn't sample anything else. Overall, Bear Donut is a solid choice for donuts! I think if they could perfect the icing flavors a bit more, and get the icing to stay adhered to the donut as you eat it, I'd give them five stars. As is, it's a four star...
