Read moreThe overall experience is roughly 3.5* in quality, but the price range is at the high end of the range for a fast food restaurant and so I rounded down to take into account my standards for fast casual restaurants.
Let's start with the good: the milkshakes that I've had here are quite tasty (they even manage to keep them cold during delivery, which is quite a feat!). These are definitely the highlight of any meal here, and I could definitely see myself coming here to order just a shake in the future. The burgers are also enjoyable and a world of quality away from the low-end of the market (McDonald's / Burger King).
That said, the prices are the same as some NYC-area burger chains, and Five Guys doesn't run any promotions that most of their rivals in the sector do. While the shake's on par with the locally run alternatives and the burger is at least in the same ballpark as these other places, the Cajun fries generally come out very soggy and with an inconsistent level of spice. While they do give you a huge number of them, the lack of quality compared to even some cheaper fast food restaurants is a huge minus given that fries are often the best part of a fast food meal. The burger, while fine, also doesn't reach the heights of a Shake Shack, Chick-fil-A, or In-N-Out even though this location charges as much if not more than most of those alternatives.
Given the inconsistency with the food and the high prices relative to most fast food competitors (particularly when the lack of promotions is taken into account), I think this place is just average. Definitely worth checking out for the shakes but you can safely...
Read moreThough Shake Shack is my favorite place for a fast food burger, I've been going here for a few weeks now, ever since my sister introduced me to the jr. bacon cheeseburger. It is really good. I've ordered mayo as one as my toppings every time I have been and they always forget to put it on. Other than that, this location is pretty good. I have never had to wait more than 5-7 minutes for my order and the line has not been long at all- even during lunch time which is a very busy and crowded in the MetroTech area. For a comparison, the Chipotle that is essentially next door, has a line thats is out the door, every day during lunch. Other than the mayo issue, this five guys is pretty much the same as all the others in terms of food quality. Lastly, I might be imagining this, but I like the fries here much better than any of the other locations. They are always...
