DO NOT EAT HERE—HORRIBLE SERVICE & UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF!
I had the absolute worst dining experience at K-Pot on Albee Square in Brooklyn, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. My friend and I arrived at 7:30 PM, put our names on the waitlist, and were told there were 17 parties ahead of us. Fine—it was a fun night, and we were willing to wait. An hour passed, and after checking in multiple times, we were finally notified that our table was ready.
That’s when the first red flag happened. We got to the front, only to see that the restaurant gave our table away to another couple who arrived AFTER us. When I pointed this out, the host acted nervous and suddenly said it would be “just five more minutes” (which obviously was a lie, considering our table had already been taken). No apology, no explanation—just blatant disorganization and disrespect for our time.
Then came the REAL nightmare—one of the employees, named Dan.
This man showed up to our table visibly intoxicated—either on drugs or alcohol, I have no idea, but his behavior was disturbing. He didn’t introduce himself, made uncomfortable personal comments about my appearance, and then got aggressive and condescending when I adjusted the placement of my soup pot. He started mocking me, saying, “Oh, you wanna do my job for me? Go ahead, girl, do it yourself then,” and continued to make sassy, sarcastic remarks every time he came back to our table. Mind you, I had never met this man in my life.
When he returned later with more food, he randomly blurted out, “Oh my god, I’m so scared of you,” in a weird, condescending tone. At this point, I had had enough and told him to leave our table. He continued to act unprofessional, invasive, and downright creepy throughout the meal.
I flagged down a staff member to complain because his behavior made me deeply uncomfortable. Instead of addressing the situation properly, another rude and dismissive employee with a bad attitude came over and acted like I was the problem. The only person who showed an ounce of professionalism was our original server, Zian, who apologized and offered us a drink on the house (which we declined because we were disgusted by that point).
To make things worse, when Dan was finally spoken to by staff, instead of apologizing, he walked right in front of our table, shot us a dirty look, turned his back, and blatantly ignored us. The so-called “manager” who came over was completely useless and seemed like she didn’t care. No one took this complaint seriously.
On top of all that, the overall service was atrocious. No one checked on us. No one changed our BBQ pan. The staff acted like they couldn’t care less about the customers. We spent over $100 and left feeling disrespected, disgusted, and completely unheard.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE. The lack of professionalism, disorganization, and outright rude behavior from the staff is beyond unacceptable. If management even remotely cares about their business, they need to take a serious look at the people they’re hiring because this was by far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had.
Zero stars if I could. Avoid this place at all costs. They need to be held accountable for letting their staff treat...
Read moreGiven the cold windy weather tonight, a few friends and I thought to go eat at this K-Pot. We walked in around 6:25pm to put our names on the waiting list. It was going to be a 1hr to 1hr and 30min wait, which was fine. We got seated around 7:35pm and decided to do both Hot Pot and Korean BBQ. We were very hungry and immediately started ordering all the various drinks, foods and sides that we wanted through the tablet given to us. A lot of the food arrived quickly; however none of the sliced meats for the hot pot arrived. With a fully packed restaurant, we figured they’re busy so it’ll come out shortly. Eventually all the hot pot burners and the BBQ stove shut off—our table had lost power. We spoke to our server who explained “This happens, simply let her know if it happens again.” We also brought up the missing sliced meats, and the server mentioned to reorder them while they check with the kitchen. A few minutes later the table lost power again, so we brought it up with the server and she handled it. Shortly after the sliced meats arrived, but our table lost power for the third time. We asked our server if we could switch tables but were told it’s not possible.
At this point we flagged our issues to an assistant manager who also told us, “This happens and just let him know so he will take care of it”. We started timing how long the table took to lose power after being fixed. Each time was 60–90 seconds and then power was lost. With the fluctuating power, we had been unable to cook anything in our hot pots for nearly an hour. At one point this assistant manager told me us that this table has known issues—the breaker is loose and they haven’t been able to fix it. The power was back on but as it had been all night, the table lost power again after 90 seconds. One of the people in my party went over to the host stand to bring up our issues, and ask to speak with the manager. After over an hour of dealing this with different employees, we were moved to a new table. We had politely requested a discount for all the inconveniences we’ve encountered. The rest of our time was fine, the food was good, the new table worked well and everything went relatively smooth. That is, until the check. The check came with a discount of 10% or about 4-5% of the bill. On top of that, a server came over to inform us that we were almost at the 2hr limit, this was at about 9:35pm, so 2hrs after we were seated, but only 1hr after we actually had a chance to cook our food. We were not thrilled with this service experience and decided to tip accordingly. We have had good experiences at this location in the past. This experience has completely soured our previous experiences for us. We will not be going back to this location again, if we ever give KPOT in general...

PRICE: it’s 31$ on the weekends all day. Mon-Friday it’s 21$ for lunch. 31 for dinner Lunch is from open to 4pm. Dinner from 4 onward.
FOOD: dinner/weekend is the only time worth coming. The dinner menu is widely better than the lunch. All the steaks and pork and seafood are available. The lunch really limits you to a few options per protein, whereas dinner provides almost double the choices. All of the food is of great quality. I’ve been here many times, and have questioned the quality of any of the food that brought out, cooked or not. The self serve sauce bar in the back is cool. They recently changed/upgraded the sauce containers you bring to the table. I miss the bowls. :(
They also have French fries, kimchi, cake, cream puffs, kaarage? (Fried chicken bites). Keep those to a minimum as you will waste stomach space.
SERVICE: service is incredible. Shout out to our most recent server Kenton? I might be messing that up, but I know it started with a K. Either way, they were really nice and friendly. All the bussers are really nice and polite as well.
ATMOSPHERE: Socially, the atmosphere is nice. They have a ton of TV’s. Music playing. Tons of other tables and places to sit. A bar with friendly bartenders. Decor is nice and kind of random? The Bathroom area has an out of place, freight storage feel to it. Weird but W/E, don’t bother me none. HOWEVER, due to the extreme amount of soup pots boiling away, and grills running, there is a TON of humidity in the air. So much so, that the floors are slippery. Not an exaggeration at all. If your shoes are at the slightest bit slick, you need to penguin walk. Lol. They try to thwart the humidity with a ton of industrial fans and dehumidifiers, but I don’t think it’s enough. Now I can’t say that there is a solution to this, but hopefully some mitigation of the slippery floors can be implemented as it could possibly be dangerous. They also at some point had someone going around dabbing away the moisture build up from the air vents above the tables. Too much moisture and you get some air vent juice on your table. It seemed a bit weird to be doing above the tables as people were sitting there eating… should probably be done between table changes as opposed to while eating.
Overall this place is great. I will continue to come back and bring friends.
PS they have free ice cream cups behind the checkout counter. In the...
