Local 138 — Restaurant in New York

I attended the bar with a friend for the first time on Friday January 10. We arrived just after 8pm. All seemed well as we ordered our first round of beers. The bartender (not sure of the name but was wearing crop top with stomach showing) charged us each $8 for a bottle of Bud Light. We then ordered 3 Stella draughts for $7 each. After looking at my card statement it was clear that she had helped herself to some tips by adding on an extra few dollars to the bill when processing my card transaction. To make matters worse, she asked for my card PIN, which is completley unacceptable. That bartender subsequently went off shift around 9pm. We then ordered another round with the new bartender who informed us the price of a Bud Light was actually $5 meaning the previous bartender ripped us off.

I've lived in New York about 12 years now, and have probably visited Local 138 more than any other bar in the city. The happy hour is cheap and long, the bartenders are friendly, and the vibes are divey. Most places that offer $4 beers at happy hour will either serve them in smaller glasses or the deal will only apply to Bud Light or whatever, but Local 138 has 8 or 10 good options to choose from. I like to come in the early evening to chill with a book and a beer, and also like the loud busy vibe that happens later in the night. I brought a big group for my birthday unannounced after some other plans fell through and the bartender kindly opened up the back space for us and even let us play our own music back there. I've always been a fan of this bar, but this was the cherry on top that finally compelled me to leave...

my friend went here and got followed into the bathroom by some nasty creep. her boyfriend confronted the guy and the guy ends up punching him and one of his friends. the bouncer did absolutely nothing, completely useless people at this bar, why are you okay with random men following girls into the bathroom????? don’t come here and give them your time and money, clearly the people who work here have no back bone to stand up for their own patrons being put into dangerous situations at...
