Incredible Dominican food with a large menu and options that will satisfy any cravings. The family style portions are big even though perhaps a bit overpriced when you order all of the staples. Would definitely recommend ordering from the specials in the back if it is just a date because the main menu may be too much food unless you are really in the mood to feast. As far as food recommendations the salcocho and mofongo were delicious and even though our maduros never came they looked incredible at the tables around us. The arroz con gandules left a bit to be desired compared to the home cooked ones, but still a solid portion size and the rest of the food really filled the gap. The batidas are incredible and if you donāt get one you are honestly missing out. The parcha (passion fruit) one did it for me with a tough second from the guanabana.
Service was pretty decent, we had what appeared to be a manager come out and help us a bit towards the end because our waiter went MIA, but no issue there really. The only thing that really justified losing a star was the missing food items, and the fact they didnāt really clean well for COVID. Using windex for cleaning tables wasnāt the best call, but better than the Abuela standard fabuloso for everything.
All in all I would say check this place out. Just make sure you are willing to dish out a bit of cash for some great food and BYOHS (bring your own...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās a shame when a restaurant has fairly good consistent food thatās ruined by inconsistent terrible service. I ordered by phone directly from the restaurant for delivery gave my phone number and address. Their delivery guy called me at 11am when he was downstairs at the apt but never rang the bell. I had not seen that he called and since he didnāt ring the bell we missed him.
I called the delivery driver back 6 minutes after he called me to no response. I called the restaurant and spoke with a kinder man who told me the driver said he couldnāt get in touch and returned to the restaurant. I asked if he would deliver the food and was told yes he was leaving right away to deliver.
30 minutes later thereās no call and no delivery guy at the door so I called the restaurant to ask. The man that answered the phone this time was incredibly unprofessional and rude. I asked about when I could expect the redelivery and he said that they already tried to delivery and would not be delivering again and āthere is no food for you.ā All he did was shout and then hung up the phone.
Itās a shame because I refer a lot of people to this place as a place with fairly consistent good Dominican food, as I am Dominican myself. I definitely will not be ordering again from here and will make sure to let everyone else I know and have recommended to not to spend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere can not possibly be enough words in the english language to describe the way I feel about these vegan marshmallows from Sweet & Sara, but I am going to try:
Amazing, delicious, delightful, delectable, yummy, stupendous, magnificent, excellent, exciting, unbelievable, fantastic...
Well, you get the idea. Point is, anything you order from S&S is going to be one of the best things you have ever put in your mouth. I have ordered over $100 in marshmallows in the last month alone. Ya, I might be a little bit crazy. Being a vegetarian marshmallows stopped being something I consumed awhile ago, and finding out that vegan marshmallows existed was exciting. It had been over a year and a half since I had even touched a marshmallow. And now I can eat them whenever I want!
Most health stores such as Whole Foods carry them but you can also order them online. You can also get items online the stores don't carry. For instance, I can only pick up the regular mallows and peanut butter smores at my local WF, but I can order anything over the net....
