Colombians will love this sausage as it literally somehow tastes like the Colombian ‘Tropical’ brand white cheese, commonly called fried cheese, that’s used in the Colombian version of a ‘Fry Up’ called ‘Picada’. Mmmmm!!!!
The Ribs were tender and had the perfect amount of a nice stable thick sauce that they sell in house.
The Brisket (my first time ever having it) was abundant in a generous serving of the three meat sampler I ordered. DEFINITELY MY FAVORITE! Juicy, AMAZING dry rub flavor. I was in heaven during every bite.
I ordered three separate sides:
Mac N Cheese - Thick with a perfect cheese rue that made the sauce cling to each noodle, no half sauced sliding off the noodle cheese sauce here!
Sweet Potato Mash- Super sweet, candied yam flavor with an even distribution of small even sized walnut pieces. It was so tender it almost melted into the fibers of the softened yam . I dislike huge pieces of walnuts in yam mash! Amazingly executed!
Baked Beans- Nothing short of a middle finger to Vegetarians this sweet smoky side dish was TO DIE FOR. Packed with meat and I devoured it bouncing up and down like a little girl who finally got McDonalds. It was hard not to eat like that Waynes brother in White Chicks scene with Terry Crews at the restaurant, thank god a White Chicks Two is in the works. I can write my order as a male repellant.
I had a piece of cornbread. As a local baker near by, I would describe it as a humble crumb cornbread. Flaky/crumbly, soft, and does the job. I recommend on to go orders to toast it and slap butter and jam on it as thats what I was fantasizing about doing as I ate it.
As someone who worked for Quality Greens Kitchen for all of two days, I believe this is an extension of the brand with a different concept??? I’m blown away with the culinary palate of the menu curator. I quit Quality because of the staff not being consistent with what the boss wanted, because I’m visual, and I repeat what I was taught from the staff that trained me and it was driving me mad, but I secretly still get food from there because they have menu curation/concept that is PERFECT.
Can I sleep with a menu?
I TIPPED ALL OF THE STAFF! The sweet man cutting up brisket by the menu signage gave me a run down of the ENTIRE menu. I came in on a whim and I asked his opinion while he was busy. Everyone was nice...
Read moreMy son wanted me to give Mighty Quinn's 4 stars, and so I must.
My rating would have been a 3 or 3 1/2.
Service is definitely 5 stars. There were only 2 employees that we could see there and both were phenomenal.
My boy loved the brisket & mac n cheese.
For me, I'm super picky with brisket, bc I love it so much, so I felt that the fatty parts were enough to make me happy, yet the lean parts were a bit too dry.
They season it with a sprinkle of this flaky kosher sea salt before handing you your plate (well, no, your meat is served in brown to go containers) and without the addition of that salt and the one type of barbecue sauce that is placed on each table, it doesn't taste like their meat is seasoned. I don't like to have to keep adding salt and I don't like unflavored meat.
The mac n cheese was definitely a macaroni bechamel. It was soft and creamy, but was there any cheese? I don't think so, but again, my boy loved it.
They give you soft hamburger buns (instead of toast) upon request, with your meat. I asked for pickles or something though to cut the fat, but didn't get any, nor see any there upon looking around the restaurant, as sometimes, many times, they leave it out in BBQ places, but it felt weird not to have pickled anything while eating the brisket. I guess I could have ordered the coleslaw or one of their small salad sides, yet it didn't look appetizing.
They let you try anything you want though before buying it, even the meat, so that's helpful, when you are deciding what to get.
The restaurant itself has wooden tables, lots of seating, is kept super clean, has excellent music, that's not too loud, and had very few people there during the start of lunch time, which sometimes concerns me about a place...yet I'm not concerned about the Mighty Quinn's chain.
If they just cook their brisket on lower heat for slightly longer so the lean parts aren't so dry, add a nice salt and pepper rub for longer before going in the oven, and add cheese to their Mac n cheese, then I think they are on their way to becoming a 5 star BBQ joint. Oh and please offer...
