If possible it would be best to be here for their lunch special as one can sample as much of their offerings. With it's close proximity to the Empire State Building and the neighborhood of Murray Hill this place is easily accessible. The edamame was a nice start and while the skin is edible it's best to remove the skin which was easy. A bowl to discard the skins are provided to the consumer. The octopus takoyaki was tasty and hot. It might be a good idea to take a small bite of the dumpling to let some of the heat out unless one wishes to scream "KAME-HAME-HA!" loudly in pain. Finally the spicy Tokotsu Ramen had a rich broth the the pork was quite tender. It's not so spicy that one might grunting in pain that one's hair turns blond while one's eyes turn green, but has sufficient heat. There is a restroom in the premises but it's somewhat claustrophobic. Ovarall I would say in lieu of 5 stars this place is Super-Saiyan 5.

¡Buen provecho! Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting Ramen Goku in Manhattan, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The restaurant is themed with a Japanese anime decor, complete with photos, figurines, and decorations that brought back childhood memories of watching the Goku series. The service was excellent, with friendly and attentive waitresses. We were seated quickly and served with a smile. The food was delicious, although some dishes impressed me more than others. The Chicken Karaage Curry didn’t blow me away, although the chicken was well-cooked and crispy. However, the Pork Gyoza was incredible, with a perfect temperature for eating and savoring. The Pork Buns were also delicious, with a fluffy bun filled with pork, vegetables, and sauce. But the dish that really impressed me was the Tonkotsu Ramen, one of the restaurant’s classics. The pork portions were generous, and the dish itself was very flavorful. Overall, my experience at Ramen Goku was very positive. The atmosphere was fun, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant to all ramen and Japanese food lovers. I hope this review is helpful to everyone. Enjoy your meal!

Great Experience comes with great Ramen! Honestly, it is one of the best ramens that I had for past few years, and the the answer on question “why?” Is so simple - “broth”! When it comes to tonkotsu ramen the broth is the king! Many places can say that they make homemade noodles, or have some fancy chefs, who are running the place, but without without slowly simmered pork broth you will definitely not have the perfect experience. Goku Ramen has it - from the first sips of this this amazing pork tonkotsu and first bites of noodles you will be totally blown away. Creamy, rich and porky - it is the very first 3 words that are coming to mind. Pair it with a glass of Asahi beer for your best ramen experience!

I was so excited to take my family here, especially my 12 year old cousin who is a huge fan of both ramen and Dragon Ball Z, but our experience will prevent us from going back. We were seated near the entrance at a table that could seat four. However, after ten minutes in our seats, a couple sits at the elevated counter seats directly next to us. To get into their seats, they bumped into us and didn't even say excuse me. I'm not exaggerating when I say that their rear-ends were less than 5 inches from our faces and whenever they shifted, we had to move. The waiter offered them a seat elsewhere, realizing that we were uncomfortable, but they refused. When the waiter alerted the manager, she told us to move so that we could be more comfortable. When I inquired why we, a party of three that was seated long before the couple, should move she said "Oh, I didn't know that you were here first. Please, this way you can be comfortable. We'll put these seats over here together for you." To say that I felt slighted was an understatement but I should also mention that I wondered if race had anything to do with it. My family and I are Black and we were encroached upon my an Asian couple. And, we were told to move. We stayed and ate because my cousin was looking forward to it, but I won't ever go back. The waiter was pleasant and we of course have him a great tip, but the interaction was racist and the food was lackluster. Plus, the only thing remotely connected to Dragon Ball Z were a few pictures and figurines. They could have done a lot more to play up...

I'm really sorry to say that the quality of the food was not good relative to the price. If you have never had good ramen or kimchi rice, and if you prefer bland-to-mild flavors, then you might not mind. Unfortunately, my party is very used to eating ramen and kimchi fried rice from other places and we were all surprised by how mild the flavors were considering that we paid $16 for the kimchi fried rice, $18 for the veggie shoyu ramen (the best broth out of all us), and $19 for the shoyu ramen.

Kimchi fried rice was incredibly basic. I would only recommend it if you are unable to stomach any kind of flavor. I had to take it home and mix it with other foods to avoid the waste.

The takoyaki was good, though. The chive cakes were very small and were just okay.

Hot tea was $4 for one person. Extra chili oil is $1 (which we found necessary considering how bland all of our meals were).

The service was not exceptional either. Not specifically bad, but the bare expectations. Note that they charge 20% gratuity for parties of 3 people.

This place was really, really overpriced for what it is. The 20% gratuity for 3 people tipped the scales for me. I would really not recommend it unless you are desperate to eat or you genuinely like blander flavors. The vegetarian options are clearly labeled at least?

I don't mean to be negative and I really wish I could recommend this place, but money is a finite resource esp in a city like NYC . Save it for somewhere else if you want to eat...

Came here with wife and two friends. We enjoyed the food, but I was disappointed with the variety of the menu to choose from. It was more of a basic selection. Good quality although, just underwhelmed. The restaurant had very little related to the dragon ball anime besides the name and logo. I was very disappointed in the customer service. I had specifically requested before we even ordered that me and my wife were on separate checks and the waiter acknowledged my request. At the end of the meal he brought the single tab, I confronted the waiter by my initial request for separate checks and he responded that “they can not do it” I questioned how could they not separate the 7 items ordered and he went back and came with 3 equally divided checks. I do not like when restaurants FORCE you to do once check and play ignorant when you ask for your specific check is a forced 20 dollar tip really that worth it? I saw another review with a group being forced to pay a single tab forcefully.

Goku ramen please do better with customer service especially if it was a reasonable...
