Got takeout since it’s right next door to where I’m living. It was okay, not bad, not amazing, but overall good-ish(?) to start: the rolls were ok- I found that they were to filled with rice (especially the cucumber rolls, there was too little cucumber and too much rice) and flavour was decent. I liked the tuna avocado roll the most out of all the rolls. The salmon / tuna sushi was okay as well, pretty good and I enjoyed it (nothing super special, just plain and straight up salmon and tuna and rice lol). We got some crispy rice sushi as well since it seemed like the specialty- the crispy rice was pretty mediocre to be honest. It was just a thin slab of rice that they fried and put a thin slice of fish & other toppings on. Honestly, thought that it was pretty mediocre and the rice wasn’t that crispy, texture just felt stale. I don’t think I’d ever order takeout again- it was very mediocre. Read moreSushi Nikko is an omakase restaurant (12 courses for $68 pp) on the 2nd floor of the JACX&CO LIC eatery. During my visit, I was interested in the combo sushi set orders to take to Gantry Plaza for a bridesmaid proposal picnic! I ordered 5 combo sushi sets - each set comes with 4 maki rolls x 4 pieces each = 16 pieces total (about $20 per box if you choose your own rolls). We ordered a combination of truffle avocado, spicy blue crab, spicy salmon, yellowtail jalapeño, eel avocado, salmon avocado, spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, and shiitake mushroom. My favorites were the eel avocado and salmon avocado!
This is such a great summertime activity - the setup was easy, the boxes were easy to hold and eat, the sushi was fresh and delicious, and it was easy to clean up. Just don't forget to cap the soy sauce :)
P.S. They...
Read moreThis restaurant offers an economy omakase experience, aiming to provide diners with 10+ courses of sushi and other Japanese dishes for a price range of $60-$100. While they may not match the creativity and flavor of higher-end Japanese restaurants, they do an impressive job within the $60-$100 range, outperforming many sushi platters in the $50-$100 range at other Japanese eateries. The ingredients appear fresh, and although the food in my photos might seem a bit dim due to poor lighting that day, it actually looked much more vibrant in person. In addition to the food, the relaxed service and dining environment make it a great choice for work lunches or small gatherings...
