Changan Kitchen stands out as one of the best spots for authentic Chinese cuisine in the area. The restaurant offers a chill and welcoming dining environment, with adorable pet figurines hanging on the walls, a textured brick-wall design, and classic-style lighting that adds a warm, traditional touch.
The menu features a wide variety of dishes, particularly from Northwest China, as Xi'an is renowned for its flour-based foods like Chinese burgers, Liang Pi (cold noodles), and hand-pulled noodles. They also offer familiar favorites like fried rice, dumplings, and chow mein, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
I tried the Chinese Burger with Stewed Pork, and it was exceptional. The crispy-yet-soft bun paired beautifully with the tender, juicy pork filling, which reminded me of carnitas—a must-try dish! Another standout was the Fried Pao Mo Soup with House Special Beef, a unique and flavorful dish combining beef braised in soy sauce and spicy seasonings with the signature bread pieces of Pao Mo. However, the spice level might be a bit intense for those with a lower tolerance.
The service was friendly, and the food was prepared quickly, making it a convenient yet satisfying dining experience. With its large menu and inviting atmosphere, Changan Kitchen is an ideal spot for family reunions or big gatherings where you can explore more elaborate and shareable dishes. Definitely worth a visit for a taste of authentic...
Read moreThis was picked on a whim and it was amazing. It was a really clean and comfortable restaurant with a lot of lighting. The staff was really friendly though if you look Chinese they will probably talk to you in Chinese unprompted which is totally fine just kind of funny. We came close to closing because we didn't know they had a kitchen cleaning day so they were closing an hour earlier than expected but they still served friendly and swiftly. Most of the food came out within 10 minutes somehow. I got the cold sesame noodles with kaofu it was super flavorful and the noodles had the right amount of chewiness. My friend got the niu rou mian and it was super rich and super flavorful, honestly one of the best I've ever had and for the price it made it even more worth it. The pan fried pork buns (shengjianbao) were also super juicy and had the nice crisp bottom. The lamb bun was also pretty good very spiced. We gave a big tip for coming so close to closing but it was also just super good. I'm astonished by how good the Taiwanese-chinese food was for being in Ontario. Definitely coming back at a less...
Read moreThe establishment is tucked away behind a corner right next to Arizona Leather. A lot of seating for large parties. Upkeep of bathroom wasn’t too great. The restaurant itself is clean. Service was great and staff is very friendly. I ordered menu item N17. The first taste of the broth was quite good. The beef was very tender and they don’t skimp on it. But after a few more bites, the soup’s flavor became boring. But that’s just me. The Stir Fried Pork Belly was very good. The Ma Po Tofu dish was also good. The Bean Sprout Salad was quite enjoyable. Everyone enjoyed the food. Large portions for the a la carte items so make sure you’re with hungry friends. I would like to try the other menu items next time I’m in the area. I would...
