After more than a decade without a single In-N-Out indulgence, I finally made my way back to the famed West Coast burger institution. It had been over 12 years since my last visit, and with so much hype surrounding the chain, I wondered whether it would still live up to my memories. First, let’s address the scene: In-N-Out is always busy. Whether it’s lunch hour or late at night, their lines stretch long, filled with eager customers who swear by their simple-yet-iconic menu. My visit was no exception. The place was packed, buzzing with energy, and despite their reputation for efficiency, the wait was longer than expected. For a fast-food joint, the fast part was questionable. It took more time than I anticipated to get my order, though I knew that was partly due to their insistence on preparing everything fresh—something I do appreciate. This isn’t a place where pre-made patties sit under heat lamps waiting to be tossed onto a bun. Every burger is made to order, which contributes to the slight delay. That being said, if you’re used to places where you grab your food within minutes, you might find yourself tapping your foot impatiently. Now, onto the real reason for the visit: the food. I went with an **Animal Style** burger, one of In-N-Out’s famed “secret menu” offerings that isn’t so secret anymore. If you’re unfamiliar, this option transforms the standard burger into a decadent experience, loaded with **grilled onions, extra sauce, mustard-cooked beef patties, and gooey melted cheese**. It’s messy, it’s indulgent, and it’s exactly what I needed to rekindle my In-N-Out nostalgia. The first bite confirmed that some things never change. The burger was absolutely delicious. The patties were flavorful, well-seasoned, and had that signature freshness that sets In-N-Out apart from other fast-food competitors. The **special sauce**, reminiscent of a tangy Thousand Island dressing, added the perfect amount of richness, complementing the grilled onions beautifully. The texture balance between the crisp lettuce, juicy tomato, and warm, buttery bun was spot on. The fries, on the other hand, were decent but **not mind-blowing**. In-N-Out’s fries have always been divisive—some love their natural, freshly-cut taste, while others find them too dry or lacking in crunch. I found them enjoyable enough but not particularly memorable. Next time, I might go Animal Style with the fries, too, which would add cheese, sauce, and grilled onions for extra flavor. Overall, my return to In-N-Out was satisfying, though not without its minor drawbacks. It’s clear why people remain loyal fans: the food quality holds up, especially the burgers. However, the wait time and overall busyness might test the patience of anyone looking for a quick bite. If you’ve got the time and don’t mind the chaos, In-N-Out delivers on its promise of simple, well-crafted burgers that stand the test of time. After 12 years, I can confidently say it was worth the wait.

This has never happened in the past but can clearly see that customer service is not a priority anymore. It is a normal routine to see car lines wrapped around waiting to order, so I decided to go inside to order. After waiting for over 30 minutes and seeing that there was no longer a wait inside the restaurant nor any cars outside, I realized that they where calling numbers that had passed 90. I asked if my order was accidentally given to another customer or skipped, they responded "can you just give us 5 minutes?", I asked again if my order was skipped, the response was "your order receipt was probably accidentally lost", lol. I had my family waiting in the car and the manager, "milli vanilli" with the biggest artificial smile came up to me as says, "we were going to make your order but I understand you wanted a refund"... Common courtesy would probably be to make it right but apparently wasting people's time and have them wait for over 30 minutes is a "who cares-its just a brown person l" attitude now.

This is the first time not giving a five star review to any In-N-Out Burger I visited. The food was great the restaurant was clean but something about the service was off. First when they were taking our order a person seemed not interested and didn’t really listen to my request when I asked if we could get our milkshakes at the end or if they had to give them to us at the same time with our meal. Not a huge deal but he just wasn’t wanting to listen. Then they messed up our order and when I went back to tell them she kind of looked at me like she didn’t believe me and it took her about a minute to decide what to do. I told her I could bring her the tray If she didn’t believe me. She finally said OK we’ll just make you a new one. But it took over 12 minutes to get it. People that were in line waiting to order received their full meals before I received my replacement burger. Other than that everything else is great including the food as always.

Got off work early pulled up and the line is almost out the drive thru.hop in line About 5 mins or so pass and I get up to the speaker. Within a minute of me pulling up to the speaker they shut down the menu lights which kinda hurt my soul but I figure they probably aren’t even tuned in maybe I got unlucky. I figure I’ll just ask if they’re able to take the order of the last person in line, if not no worries. Another 5 mins or so pass and and I’m next in line hoping the fact that the line wasn’t roped off, and almost coming out the drive thru, and all the lights were on will get me some understanding with the staff, again if not no worries. The drive thru attendant looks back at my car a few times as he’s helping the car in front of me and leaves from the window as I’m pulling up(ouch). You don’t have to take my order but as the last car who’s been waiting almost as long as the guy in front of me aren’t I at least worth talking to or notifying? The staff ignores me at this point one employee back at the first window shaking his head disdainfully when he sees my car. Another employee closing up not even 5 feet away from me. after 10 mins one employee mouths “closed” to me which should have been communicated as soon as I pulled up. at this point I just wanna ask the manager why the last person in line is being treated like this. I signal back that I would like to talk but the “closed” employee turns back to what they’re doing and continues ignoring me not even bothering to get a manager. Finally the original drive thru attendant comes back and after explaining that he in fact was the manager cites “security reasons” for the treatment as if I was some random car pulling up in the middle of the night and not the 9th or so...

When my cousin and I get together, we ALWAYS laugh and have a good time, but yesterday was a little different. About an hour before heading to In-N-Out for dinner, we found out some really bad news. We had just been bawling our eyes out and crying, so when we made it to In-N-Out, we were just being silly. We took the opportunity to blow off some steam and have a good laugh. The attendant was a great sport!

While we were pulling up to the drive-thru, my cousin told me to whisper and ask the attendant what's on the "secret" menu. At first she looked puzzled. Then she adjusted her headset and asked me what I said. So, I repeated myself. She told me they don't have a secret menu and I said, "It's okay, I won't tell anyone. I turned to my cousin and asked, "What are those fries called again?”Meanwhile, the attendant was responding to my original question, "We have a 4 by 4 and a 3 by 3." She looked so serious. My cousin and I started busting up! 🤣

When we were pulling off to go to the window to pay, the attendant smiled and said, "But really, we don't have a secret menu." She made our night! 😂

THANK YOU, In-N-Out for taking the time out to vet and hire such thoughtful and professional employees. You NEVER know what someone else is going through when they come in your drive-thru. Even people that just lost a loved one have to eat and that could have gone a whole other way. I don't know her name, but it was in the 8' o clock hour on 5/19/25. I hope that young lady gets a commendation. 🙏🏾

P.S. My order was perfect and everything was exactly how I requested it and the line was surprisingly fast for...
