UPDATE: I wrote a scathing review, which you can read below. But wanted to update you all as to what happened.
After reaching out directly on their website, saying the same thing I said here, the president of the company responded.
Not only did he appreciate the points I made, he explained how the “POWER” in Green Power Smoothie came to be and it made so much sense.
Passero’s offered me a refund which I will graciously accept and he was kind enough to let me know which smoothie I can order in the future if protein is what I am looking for.
The grace with which he handled the complaint earned this establishment 5 stars.
I ordered a small GREEN POWER SMOOTHIE. It came out to be $7.56 with tax. That’s kind of expensive but not really because of the “POWER.” When a smoothie has protein, it costs upwards of $6.
I left the store and took a sip, but came right back because I didn’t taste any power. It was watery, actually.
I asked the person for the ingredients and he said, spinach, pineapple, apple, and banana. I asked, “Well where’s the power?” He said, “Maybe the spinach.”
Overall, I’m tired of businesses doing stuff like this. Without protein, unless you’re price gouging your patrons, no one should ever spend $7 for a power smoothie that does not have protein.
Needless to say, I won’t be back because I cannot pad the pockets of price gougers. I don’t care how much things cost if you are selling me what you say it is.
Power does not come from spinach in smoothies. When talking about smoothies, power is protein. What’s so hard about that?
It would be smarter to call it a Green Power Smoothie and charge $5. People will buy it more because they think they’re getting a deal. When they realize it’s no power they’ll understand why it was only $5.
The way y’all are doing it almost makes me want to call the cops because I am tired of establishments making up prices and calling things something...
Read moreHere’s the most recent (hopefully last) update: Jeff rectified the issue by sending me the correct coffee bags. I really hope there would be no more hiccups with this roaster, as I really love their coffee. 🤞🏽
This is the second time I am having issues with this roaster. Again, I get sent the wrong order. I ordered three bags of whole beans (Bali, Good things happen in Philly, and City of Brotherly and Sisterly love), and what did I receive? Two bags of Uganda and one of Rwanda. I am starting to get a sense that this place is going downhill fast. (Note: the update below is from the first time they screwed up my order. This time, I have not heard back yet)
Update: A few days later, I got a response from Jeff Lincoln, who apologized and remedied the issue by sending the missing coffee bean bag. It seems that it was a glitch.
I have been a loyal customer of Passero’s coffee roasters—ordering various coffee beans, grinding them, and enjoying them at home. They offer a wide variety of excellent single origins.
This time around, I ordered 3 bags of whole beans, but received only 2. I reached out to them via their “contact us” section on their website, but got no response at all. I waited two days then sent them a message on their Facebook business messenger, and got no response. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I am extremely disappointed at this dismal customer service. I have never experienced such lack of communication...

While sitting down at a table more than 6 feet from others and waiting for the rest of my order, and while drinking coffee, I coughed to clear my throat (into my elbow). Then the barista throws open the doors in December, so it was freezing. Then, a few minutes later, while still waiting, I coughed again. The barista then yells at me to leave for being sick in front of 4 other customers.
For context, the only time I was unmasked was while sitting at the table drinking coffee away from other patrons, I’m not sick, I’m double vaxxed and boosted and I have my flu shot. Both times, I coughed to clear my throat. I explained that I wasn’t feeling sick, and he questioned that by telling me he heard me cough.
I’m still waiting for my order when the barista explains why he opened the doors to the another employee -because, according to him, I was “coughing without a mask on.” I then asked for my order and they both apologized as it had been on the counter without them realizing I didn’t get the rest of my order.
I ordered the apple oatmeal, and it was very clearly instant oatmeal. The apple bits were chewy like they were previously dehydrated and the oatmeal itself was watery .
The whole experience was mortifying and the food was subpar so I’m never...
