Alright, here's the thing. I' m a Jersey girl who sometimes feels like I've been stuck out in Minnesota for way too long. Well, especially if we're talking about finding a decent pizza. You can just forget about it. It's like trying to find a good bagel in the desert. Back in Jersey, pizza is sacred – it's not just food, it’s a way of life. But in Minnesota, it's like they're speaking a different language.
So, here I am in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, chasing down this Smokey Mountain Christmas dream I've had since a child. And we're out cruising around, mind on those mountains, when suddenly, I see this pizzeria next to a jeep outfitter.( #jeepgirl) Not just any pizzeria – it's got Jersey written all over it.
Now, I've been let down before. Places claim they got that Jersey-style pizza, but it's usually as authentic as my spray tan I get right before I go to the shore. But something about Solorzano's feels right. It’s like I'm back in the neighborhood, back where a slice means something.
I walk in, and it's like being transported. The smells, the vibes – it's Jersey through and through. I take one bite of that pizza, and it’s like all the disappointments in Minnesota's not-so-land of pizza never happened. The sauce? Perfect. The cheese? Like it's straight from the old country. The crust? It's got the crunch that speaks to my soul.
Five stars? You bet. This place ain't just good; it’s like coming home.
And those mozzarella sticks, they're the kind you'd fight your cousin Vinny over. The salad, well, it's there to make you feel like you're not just indulging, but who are we kidding? It’s all about the pizza.
Bottom line, Solorzano's Pizzeria? It's a Jersey miracle in the heart of Tennessee. For someone who's been living in a frozen pizza tundra, it’s like finding the promised land. It's not just pizza, it’s a...
Read moreJersey Hustle on Pine Mountain gets a million stars! Yes, their pizza is top notch. But it's the customer service that shines through right now.
We were at Dollywood all day and it started pouring rain. My special needs niece wanted pizza so badly. And if you understand special needs, she was absolutely stuck on getting cheesy bread with her pizza. She repeated her desire for cheesy bread so many times, by the time we got back to the resort, I wanted to jump off the balcony.
I ordered a couple pizzas for the family with an order of the garlic cheese bread. They were short delivery drivers so my husband begrudgingly picked up the pizza (he was so exhausted). We were convinced it was not going to be great pizza, because (regardless of the name) we aren't in NYC/New Jersey. We were very wrong.
Incidentally, when he returned with just the pizza, I was ready to pop a pupil. The cheesy garlic bread wasn't there. Disaster ensued. My niece doesn't have the capacity to understand why she can't have what I promised her.
Sadly, I exhibited bad behavior when I called to tell them the one item was missing. But they handled the situation (and me) very gently and professionally. And for that, I feel like an ass, but I am very grateful.
They sent a gentleman over with the order of hot cheesy garlic bread (crisis averted) AND a slice of chocolate cake!
Not just any chocolate cake. I counted about six different chocolate elements with the layers of cake, ganache, a crust on the bottom, the mini dark chocolate chips and the feathery light chocolate frosting!!!! And it wasn't overly sweet or heavy, it was perfect!
Back to the pizza. Great cheese, great crust, great toppings. This is EXCELLENT pizza and you don't have to go to the east coast.
Thank you Jersey Hustle, thank you for...
Read moreMediocre pizza with gourmet prices. What’s worse is their menu prices aren’t the price they charge. The menu said $24 for a small “Godfather Pizza. The register said $29. When I said something to the owner he said it must be an outdated menu. When I pointed out it was direct from his website he said he’s constantly having to raise prices because of cost of goods and quality ingredients. I can understand that. Unfortunately the pizza didn’t measure up at all! I’m a foodie who has had pizza all around the world and this does not measure up. $29+tax for a small pizza is by far the most I’ve ever paid. Even in cities like LA, Chicago, Seattle, or NYC which have way higher rents and cost of living don’t charge nearly $30 for a small pizza. When I got my “Godfather Pizza” it had 4 pieces of prosciutto and a few sprigs of basil. The sauce didn’t have much flavor, and neither did the crust. Maybe you wouldn’t have to charge so much if you didn’t have your Lamborghini parked out front!
Also, on a previous visit the owner handed myself and every customer in the restaurant stickers telling us to put them up all around town especially other peoples businesses and other local pizza shops. Encouraging customers to deface other businesses property is shameful. Trash pizza from a trash person!
P.s. not on a vacation. I’m a local. I give second chances. You won’t last in this town. Lambo delivery car explains the...
