My husband and I just took a trip to Gatlinburg, and we planned to visit Sawyer's while on our trip. He has Celiac disease, meaning he cannot have any gluten (even a crumb) or he will be sick for days. It makes eating out difficult sometimes. I called Sawyer's around noon before we visited to see if they cooked their gluten-free products on separate surfaces from their products containing gluten, and was assured that they have a dedicated space in the kitchen for gluten-free food preparation. We were excited to hear he could eat there safely. However, we arrived at the restaurant at 12:45 that day and they were closed already. Their site said they closed at 2 every day, so I called from the parking lot and was told that they were in fact already closed. I was so angry that they didn't tell me they were closed when I called 30-45 minutes before! We essentially drove to Pigeon Forge for no reason. I vowed I would only give them at max a 4-star review when we did get to go (gluten-free pancakes are rare, and so we were going to try again) because this was so inconvenient and I felt like it was rude that they hadn't mentioned closing early when I called. Well! When we made it to Sawyer's a few days later, everything - everything - was perfect! The gluten-free pancakes were the best I've ever had, the bacon was great, the atmosphere was precious, our waitress was caring and kind, the syrups were fantastic (cinnamon creme! Wow!), and we were even given a coupon for free fudge at a store next door. The booths were HUGE, the lighting was a little dark for some people but we found it cozy, and there was no wait. Everything was clean. It was amazing! So here I am, only a little begrudgingly giving 5 stars anyway. If you're in the area, seriously, go. It is celiac-safe, the service is great, and the food is bliss! Just make sure to call first to be sure...
Read moreReview: Disappointing Experience – Potential Tourist Trap (Servers saved it)
Our recent visit to Sawyer's Farmhouse Breakfast was a frustrating experience, and I cannot recommend it for those seeking a welcoming and accommodating breakfast spot.
Upon arrival, we were met with unprofessional and rude behavior from the hostesses. They appeared disorganized and unaccommodating, even allowing a child to sit on the counter while managing guests. In contrast, our server and the gift shop attendant were polite and professional, which was a small saving grace.
We came with a party of ten, fully understanding that large groups can sometimes be challenging to seat. However, rather than finding a reasonable solution, the hostesses insisted on splitting us into separate tables—not because of space constraints, but because they didn’t want us to have two different servers. We had no issue with multiple servers; we simply wanted to sit together, but they refused to make any effort to accommodate us.
Additionally, they enforced an unreasonable restriction against our stroller, which is actually smaller than a typical car seat sling. Instead of addressing the concern professionally, the hostess was outright rude about it. Given that many breakfast places cater to families, this policy (and the way it was handled) was frustrating and unnecessary.
Overall, this place feels like a tourist trap rather than a genuine, customer-focused establishment. While the food may be passable, the lack of professionalism from the front staff, the rigid and unaccommodating policies make it an easy “do not recommend.” There are plenty of other breakfast spots that offer better service and a more...
Read moreFirst and foremost I would like to thank Tabatha, my server for the way she took care of my family and I. In addition, I would like to thank the rest of the staff as well who helped us. This is our first time in PF, TN as we are from Atlanta Ga and this was the first restaurant we went to. Mind you, my husband and I have a 1.5 year old and a newly 3 year old and sometimes kids can be loud and excited in new environments. That has never been an issue for us, we let them be them! It was an older couple of the opposite race that was sitting in a booth in front of us and apparently our children was “disturbing their peace” and the couple asked our beautiful server Tabatha can she “put a muzzle our toddlers” amongst other evil nasty comments on your family. We had no clue this was happening until the lady was removed from the section and she got up and gave my family the most disgusting look like we were the problem. Shortly after the manager came and apologized to us on this nasty lady’s behavior and comped our meal for us. All my husband and I could do was cry with so much gratitude. We have never experienced anything like this before so our emotions was all over the place. All in all We want to thank The Sawyer staff and anyone else who had our back during this ordeal. This is our home away from home now and the next time we visit PF and everytime after that we will be coming to this restaurant now. We thank you all again for the good food the good service and the good FAMILY atmosphere we received while eating here. We love you all and we LOVE...
