Cafe Sabor — Restaurant in Rexburg

I was able to go to Cafe Sabor for the invite evening tonight. It was an unexpected invite. I walked in guessing it was a friends and family night and they were super friendly to let us crash the evening. We have been up to the Cafe Sabor in Island Park and this was just as delicious if not better. They executed a wonderful service. All of the plates looked very well presented. The Carne Asada fries were the perfect amount of meat, cheese, waffle fry, pico, and fresh guacamole. The fries were top notch.

We also enjoyed the chips and salsa so much that we just had to have a second basket. We then proceeded to order the Chipotle Chicken Salad. My wife described it as fresh, crisp, and delicious. We also ordered a Chicken Chimichanga. My nephew from California tried it and the shock on his face was he’d finally found something that was just as good as his Southern California Chimichanga’s. My son had a kids meal burrito which was plenty for the bottomless pit he is and he said he could live there. (Tempting) I had the Carne Asada which was exceptional. The right texture that was tear apart with the right flavor and some nice tortillas to go with the meal. Kaya was an exceptional server who made sure our evening was most excellent. We will definitely be back. I recommend that as a community we get out and support this new business and welcome them into our community. They didn’t have to be as kind as they were but so...

walked in with my girlfriend and there was only one other person there, an employee either off the clock or on break i’m sure. we got seated pretty fast but after that it all went south, the server asked us what to drink and we got one water for my girlfriend and we started to look over the menu. it ended up taking them 8-10 minutes to even get the water out for us and for the server to ask what we wanted. we ordered, and waited..and waited.. and waited. we probably sat there for about 35-40 minutes when we ordered two small dishes and not once did the server even check up on us or even bother to look our direction. two groups of people one big one small came in the restaurant after we had ordered our food and the service was top notch for THEM. they probably took about 10 minutes MAX to get the drinks AND order out for everyone while me and my girlfriend waited there. we probably sat there a little longer and ultimately decided it wasn’t worth the wait and was taking them too much time so we just walked out. horrific service. horrific atmosphere and just a horrible fake happy attitude from the employees. as a man from mexican descent i did not appreciate the “US BORDER AHEAD” sign that was right there when you walked in it made me uncomfortable especially given how there were only white people in the entire restaurant. almost makes me think they didn’t get our food out for another reason. overall...

the service was honestly okay at the beginning. the service was pretty good the server was attentive asking us for our drinks and giving us the chips. when we walked in it was empty and there was one other person there that already had their food, after we got sat and got our chips and drinks. a party of two and a bigger party showed up. i noticed that they got more attention and even got to order food first , we got there before anyone pretty much and they just had us sitting there waiting for the other people to order. we finally got to order and we waited around 40 minutes and never got our food. it was just my bf and me. we decided to leave because after the 40 minutes i honestly wasn’t even hungry anymore.even had time to check out other reviews and pictures of the food and honestly it looked pretty bland and it was kind of pricey too. for a price like that id expect something a little more high quality. oh and having a “U.S. border ahead” poster or picture honestly made me a little uncomfortable. never in my life have i seen anything like that in a latin restaurant, idk what kind of “vibe” they were trying to give but it was kind of messed up in my opinion.
