5/23/2018 ---SUMMARY--- Good food. A very atmospheric place that feels comfortable. Excellent service! Food came fast than most restaurants here! Some food may need some work especially against nearby competitors. Desserts are amazing (really enjoyed The Cookie Monster). Good place to dine in.
---FULL---
Red Rabbit Grill is a good addition to the Rexburg scene. Though some might think that we don't have enough food places, I think it's because Rexburg doesn't have ENOUGH GOOD FOOD places in town— and Red Rabbit Grill definitely goes to the good food list!
LAYOUT:The layout of the place definitely is good. Rustic but modern. It adapts well to the town and its scene.
SERVICE: Our service was amazing! Definitely deserves a praise. Our server was Kelton, and he made us feel really welcome to the place. Others have helped too (thanks Joel for refilling us!), and I think that's great that there's team effort on their part. Makes it a comfortable place to dine in. Food came in fast too!
FOOD: ORDERED - Fettuccine Alfredo with Grilled Chicken, Salad dressing choice was Lemon Basil Vinaigrette, and for dessert was the Lava Cake. The food was satisfying! However, I do think that for a place that offers a lot of the similar items that nearby competitors have, it could be a bit better. Taste is savory! So no worries about that. The chicken on my pasta made it really good. Sauce is alright, but overall satisfying! The salad dressing I got was a little too lemony. It overpowers some of the aspect in the dressing. It was good, but just not my preference in terms of acidity. What they might lack against nearby competition would be portion sizes. I think a lot of nearby places have figured it out that they are willing to pay more if the food has "more" in it— especially that the nearby scene is near a college. I won't name these 2 places, but they offer similar food selections like this restaurant, and they do well to make it feel like the money's worth the spend. An example is a colleagues Chicken Fried Steak— which was savory, but as he commented, comparing to others it's a smaller portion. Food in general was very appealing to the taste buds!
DESSERT: Cookie Monster was BIG! And AMAZING! This is definitely a plus! Cookie taste good and unique! Very tasty. The Lava Cake kinda disappointed me. I think it was just too hot that it just turned into a hot chocolate soup in a short amount of time. The cake in it also felt a little too soft for the ice cream and chocolate to balance it. It could use a harder cake if possible. Or eat it fast. But other than that, the chocolate they used— is phenomenal. Not too sweet, just right!
CONCLUSION: Red Rabbit Grill is a fine addition to Rexburg! Good food, EXCELLENT service, and good price. I feel like they can be better on some aspects, but give them time. They are still quite new. I'm hopeful that it will just get better. I enjoyed my dining experience. Service was nice (once again), and would be willing to come back to come...
Read moreAlright, when I first started this review, I was still waiting for my food and my original rating was a 4 star. But everything took a QUICK dumper when I was halfway through my burger.
When we first got there, they had 5 servers behind the counter including a host. The host was helping someone buy a cake while we waited. No big deal. Then another group came wandering in behind us, followed by a third group. So the line was almost out the door and all 5 people were still behind the counter not doing a thing. After five minutes the host finally greeted us and then went to clean off a table. 4 of the 5 people were still standing around chatted, mingling, completely unaware of the 3 groups of people waiting to be seated and not doing anything to assist the host.
The host finished wiping down our table and took us to our spot. Then shortly after, the group behind us was seated. Their waiter took their order and got them drinks before we even saw our waitress. Finally, our waitress arrives and makes a poor attempt at an apology for taking a long time even though we knew she was just hanging out with the guys in the supply closet. I was peeved but whatever, previous experiences at this place have been better, I was overreacting…
So Liv takes our order. I asked for a few changes to be made to my order but she was like “I don’t know if you can do that… I don’t think so… I don’t know I’m new so…” Okay? Go ask? Figure it out? Do something? Just don’t act dumb… that was irritating but whatever… again, I thought I was just overreacting and being a brat…
So we got our food, it looked amazingly delicious. I’m uploading a before and after of my burger for fair game. We began our meal and everything was alright. Liv never came and checked on us, never refilled waters… AND THEN IT HAPPENED. I was HALFWAY through my burger when I looked down and noticed something strange on my cheese… THERE WAS A PARTIAL PIECE OF PAPER THAT HADN’T BEEN REMOVED FROM THE SLICE OF CHEESE. I say partial because I had ALREADY EATEN HALF OF IT. Gawlllyyy guys… come on…
Normally I’m pretty chill and easy going but all of these things added up to me kind of losing it on these people. My bad, I was upset. It was just like everything that you’re not supposed to do as a server and restaurant as a whole were done. It was like the perfect storm. One thing after another. It’s really not cool eating paper.
Honestly, I would have been alright had it just been one thing from the list of things that went wrong but that obviously was not the case. It was just not my day at the Red Rabbit Grill.
Better luck next...
Read moreI’m traveling through town, around the country really, and RRG was recommended by the hotel clerk. I came in looking for a decent dinner but got SO much more!
As soon as I entered the building, I was immediately and warmly greeted by two members of the wait staff And I was seated very promptly. The wait time for actual initial service was minimal, in the range of just a few minutes which was less than expected as it appeared the majority of the tables were still filled. The restaurant was extremely clean and the overall atmosphere is laid back, friendly, and inviting. The tables all seemed to be bussed quickly as soon as the patrons were finished despite the restaurant being quite busy so close to closing.
I ordered the Bison burger (spicy type) with a side of spicy waffle fries on the excellent recommendation of my waitress. The burger itself was cooked exactly as I would’ve done it, the bun was delicious, and the fries, while great in their own rite, were even better with the buffalo dipping sauce. After the main course, I topped the meal with the AMAZING cinnamon pretzel bites and ice cream; probably the best restaurant desert I’ve had in a year. This meal was absolutely 10/10!
Easily the best part, though was my server, Kelly. She was extremely friendly, attentive, and I literally never saw her Without a smile on her face for the entire hour I was there. She took care of all of her tables, including mine very promptly and still made time to interact with everyone and make them feel welcome. I really got the impression after spending just a few minutes talking with her that not only does she genuinely enjoy her job, but has an enviable zest for life that really makes her as beautiful inside as out.
The bottom line is, I would gladly drive another 3000 miles to...
