Ok, so the lounge itself is cool, just not the current bar tender. I go here on Wednesday nights for their open mic comedy. I have gone several times and I'm sure they recognize me now, being that I am the only black woman in there ever. The comedy is not so funny but I go back to see new comics and maybe improved ones. There used to be a cool bartender there, cordial, engaging, knowledgeable about drinks. However, he has gone and a new bar tender is now serving there and he is not those things. Instead, he takes food orders, decides for us what kind of fries we want with our meal, then when we go back to specify, he says he already put the order in...but hesitantly and irritatedly says he will change it (with a nasty fake smile on his face, smh). Another time I go he says he can't make the drink I want, and so I order a beer and a shot. I ask what he has on tap close to a stout, he informs I can't taste them all...???...then suggests a beer and I go with it after tasting. He gives me the check and it is more than the price on the menu, I ask him why and he says I ordered a beer (that he suggested) that was not within the options for that menu item... Which means that he was getting over on me purposely because he recognized that I don't drink beer or know much about them (which is why I didn't order this initially). That was not ok, not right and I haven't been back because he makes it not worth it. I will go back to being the token black women when they get a...
Read moreALWAYS A HUGE FAN of HENRY'S.. back in the day when it was on "K Street", & I am just as much of a fan of it now as I was when they were located back then. We are so lucky that the kitchen followed them to their new location; that they survived the BS that was covid which transformed that entire block of K Street. From trivia night, to my favorite night.. pool tournaments, And to all the special events that they hold,... Beautiful place, great atmosphere, location, kitchen, huge space for hosting special events! You absolutely have to see this place in person! Andon a Sunday mornings- brunch is reminiscent of the times they had back on K Street the heart of Sacramento for so many years. Open table brunch style with many places to seat as many as needed... Reminiscent of when they had adjoining doors with the neighboring restaurant "Capital Cafe", back in the day! This place always remains true to my heart and true to accommodation with genuine hospitality. Truly great service! Always look forward to every single time we come here, or even if I come alone!. Very highly recommended. 12 stars out of 10. I absolutely love my...
Read moreOh man! Where do I start?! Henry's is a great little lounge that serves great, strong drinks for a great price. They also serve a few beers on tap (Shocktop, Pabst, Lagunitas, Bud). When you don't want the whole 'club' vibe, but you still want to let loose and have a great drink with a few friends, this is the spot. The only downside is that it can get a bit crowded. The place isn't too big (maybe 50 people comfortably standing, 25-30 sitting).
I like that you get a great mixed crowd (old, young, gay, straight) without the drama.
The women's restroom was super clean! This was shocking to me because most of the hole in the wall bars I've been to, the bathroom is terrible.
They also have a digital jukebox, if you will, with all of the latest music (sort of like Touch Tunes). The machine takes dollars, debit/credit cards and I think quarters.
If you're downtown and need a great drink or just want to hang before the club, stop...
