Discovered this place while walking around downtown as the building had a nice vibe and character to it. Walked in and part of the interior is for various groceries and fresh deli items for purchase while the other part is the restaurant where you can order fresh deli foods. There were about 20 tables inside and 5 tables outside. The ordering process is straight-forward where you order at the cashier, they give you a number, and you pick up your order when your number is called. The cashier did a great job in explaining the sandwich sizes (half or whole) as well as answering any questions.
Ordered a few half sandwiches to give several a try. Ordered the Caputo, Hot Pastrami, Muffaletta, and the Old School. There were only about 5 people ahead of me, so food was ready within 10 minutes. All the sandwiches were full of fresh ingredients, well prepared, and very delicious. Of those, my favorite was the Hot Pastrami as it had a very rich flavor that was complemented with the cheese and mustard. The Old School, Caputo, and Muffaletta were just as good. On my way out, I saw the Meatball sandwich and quickly regretted not ordering it. I did not get to taste it, but it looked and smelled amazing. The next time I'm in Salt Lake, I'll definitely order the Meatball sandwich. For a small dessert, tried some of the small chocolates from the market and a chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was very soft and had generous amounts of chocolate chips with a touch of sea salt.
This is a great market and deli serving up the best meats, cheese, breads, and chocolates. The attention to detail demonstrated their passion of their products. I will come back again next time I'm in town and try the...
Read moreI have been meaning to post this review for awhile. My husband and I always enjoyed Caputo’s before the pandemic, but have easily been supporting them even more so since. Here are just a few reasons: Their food gift boxes make amazing, special gifts. Food brings people together and creates memories - who wants more stuff?Anyway, their website has several gift box options based on a theme (such as Caputo’s cheese caves, or Utah specialties). If you don’t see something you like or need a different price point, highly recommend emailing Caputo’s and you will be greeted by a very helpful staff member who will specially design a gift box for you. I recently had 2 gift boxes created for a friend who got married and another who bought their first house. Taiya went above and beyond to make sure she stayed in my budget, chose wonderful food selections, and mailed timely and securely.
Their classes are incredible and now accessible from anywhere! They started doing zoom classes (and now back to in person), so they would mail you the food pairings ahead of time. Again - makes a great gift. I bought a class for my dad and his wife for his birthday (lives outside of Utah) and they had the best time, could not stop raving about the fun they had. The only regret was I didn’t join him virtually for the class! Their instructors are experts in the industry, personable, funny, and the value is unmatched.
Lastly, there’s no other company like Caputos. Their food choices are incredible. They also support our local Utah community passionately. I have been so impressed watching them support so many local, small businesses during these trying times.

Read moreMy partner and I were passing through Salt Lake, we were only supposed to be here for the day. After breakfast, we came to Caputos to use the bathroom, but we left with the most beautiful cheeses I have ever tasted. After speaking to the man behind the counter who was well versed in cheese and food in general, we left for the climbing crag with this double skull and a baguette. After a few climbs, we snacked on our bread and cheese and couldn’t believe the quality and uniqueness of the cheese. We ate all of it without guilt or shame and returned later in the day to purchase more. This time we left with chocolates, more cheese, pickles and mini bread to pair with our cheese. If you’re looking for a staff who genuinely cares about the product they’re selling and a company that works with the owners of the products they carry, look no more. Caputo is unique in that they contribute to the well being of the company’s they work with, like certain cacao and meat and cheese company’s. We learned the history of Caputo through their employees and felt good supporting a business that supports family owned farms. The quality of their food is unmatched. I don’t know if I’ll ever find a place like this elsewhere, but fortunately they ship to states in the US. I highly recommend this market for all...
