The people who run this establishment are condescending and rude. My daughter went in with her boyfriend. She is highly allergic to cashews and did not see any signs saying that the ice cream was made with cashew coconut milk. They ordered strawberry ice cream. By the time she got to the registers she had taken a couple of bites. She knew instantly she was having a reaction. So they asked what was in the ice cream they told them about the milk. She said she was allergic and they said that will be $17.48. So they paid them and raced to get her medical attention. They have no concern for their patrons. When I brought this to their attention they were very patronizing and said as your daughter should well know when you have an allergy you should always make the establishment know so they can advise you as to what to order. We would have told her that we have a nut free ice cream available. My daughter is very cautious about what she orders having to deal with this her whole life. So when she and her boyfriend didn’t see any signs, she ordered. There is no way my daughter would want to go and have a horrible Saturday and almost die. The manager acted like she was to blame and if she couldn’t find the sign to bad. So if you do have allergies please be careful because all they want is your one time...

I would probably give this place zero stars if I could. We wait in a long line to get to the window to order and nothing tells you that the ice cream is coconut based just that it’s antidary and the worker didn’t explain anything and got annoyed at my friend for asking a question about the sizing. I ordered rocky road in a cone and they gave me half of a scoop of ice cream that was barely placed on top of the cone. I tasted the ice cream and instantly felt like i was eating coconut it was disgusting I tried to ask one of the workers about it and told her it tasted nothing like rocky road and she said yea there’s a coconut base and then walked away. I threw the ice cream away because it was awful. My friend got lavender and it tasted the exact same as mine but in a different color and she threw hers away as well because of how gross it was. You’d think these people would explain these things before people order or at least have a sign saying that but they don’t care about the customers they just want your money. 0/10...

I am a regular omnivore. I will say that the vegan food at monkey wrench was excellent! They're selection of beer was robust, their wine list was decent, and their bartender making specialty cocktails we're very good! If I did not know the food was plant-based I would have believed myself to be in any old Mexican restaurant. After dinner we went next door to their ice cream, baked goods and espresso shop. Hear again the flavors and textures would not have communicated non-dairy and vegan. I tested many of there ice creams and enjoyed each and every one. I ended up with a ginger flavored scoop. Their prices were moderate. Their service staff were friendly and responsive. I would especially recommend this restaurant to folks who have a difficult time believing a vegan menu can taste as good as this one does. Give them a try with my...

Apparently the biggest complaint about this shop was the fact that an employee didn't let a customer in after closing? Get over yourself! It was 11:30, doesn't the employee have a right to go home as well? JFC Anyways, this ice cream shop was incredible. We were overwhelmed (in a fantastic way) at the huge offering of vegan ice cream flavors. WOAH! Luckily the employee was kind enough to keep doling out samples to my partner and I. We fell in love with the Stout Chocolate flavor and adored the house-made waffle cone we got a scoop in. Thank goodness we decided against two scoops, one was almost too much as an after-dinner treat for two people! This may require a separate day trip to fully utilize our stomach space for ice cream... Perhaps next time!

Not vegan, but I was told about this place by a friend. Idk who invented the recipe for the rocky road, but boy would I like to hug them because it was phenomenal. You can definitely tell there's something different about the ice cream, but in the best way! I didn't feel bloated or weighed down after eating it. I love Rocky Road because of its classic creamy chocolate base with almonds and marshmallows running through it, and Monekywrench definitely didn't disappoint. Also, the waffle cones are tasty. They're thicker than your typical waffle cone, and I could be wrong, but I swear they add cinnamon to their cones which makes them have the essence of a churro (one of my fave desserts). I'll be back for sure, but next time I'm getting a double scoop!
