I messaged them around 10 am to reserve tables for 15 people. They were amazing. Drinks were great, bartenders were nice, the misting fans were primo and the atmosphere was fun. Idk who the dj was last light (6/25) but he was soooooo good. He played everything from Meg the stallion to Massore, Kyle Manogue to Bad bunny. Dj was badass. Kids were their too, the bar is all ages until 11. There were about 5 open food trucks and an aqua fresca stand the sold reallly good elotes (on a stick or cut from the cob) and chicharrones preparados. They also have two coolers of cold water for you to grab anytime you want, what is nice because it was hot in the late afternoon.
So our party turned into about 25 to 30, and we ended up spilling over into the main aisle and dancing all night long right there in the walkway, or on the stage for the DJ. I’ve never been here before, so I don’t know if that’s ever the vibe, but I’m telling you it definitely was last night. A lot of other tables came to join us and we were basically clubbing in the middle of El Camino. And the bar staff just let all of us do our thing, props to them! Security was good too, they ID you when you come in but no cover, and they don’t bother you once you’re inside. Wrist band lets you come in and out of the venue easily. I also like that there’s One way in and one way out so you can’t lose track of any children.
venue didn’t seem to have its own parking. And the street parking was a little tight so I would be prepared to pay to park. drinks were pricy (for me at least) a bucket of beer was about $35, a michelada and double whiskey sour was $20 together, and you have to get in line every time to buy your drinks, so I would suggest buying two at a time bc the line does get long. They also don’t have any waitstaff, and the bathrooms were single use and clean.
Anyways, we had a damn good time and thank you to El Camino and all of the vendors for...
Read moreI went because a friend said they saw it up and running and I was hopeful. Just the fact, drinks are small 6-8oz pours for 11$; the margaritas come from a machine and honestly Mama Margie’s tasted better at half the price, but if you are paying for location then I get it. A block down from Elsewhere (the old Luxury) and in front of the VFW Post 76, it is a great location but… there were way too many tables for anyone to self distance or just in general and in my opinion - there were two food trucks inside the compound (great food) and one outside, lots is fans and umbrellas, just felt way too crowded even thought the tables weren’t all filled. It was a beautiful day and it was outdoors and they did have a well stocked bar. Music provided by a DJ and it was kid and dog friendly just not a lot of room to maneuver around all the tables. They have two different clothing vendors and what looked like a set up for hot dogs but no one was manning it. All in all - we prefer the VFW - they were opening at 5pm with live music and food from their outside kitchen- drinks and food were far less expensive and there is room to move or we hold the Burleson Yard Beer Garden, as the gold standard for outdoor patios where the patio is shaded and wide open and you get a 17oz margarita pour on an all day HH and they are really good with several flavors to choose from, indoor seating w TVs and it’s open air or outdoor seating, well spaced tables and TV’s - also kid and dog friendly and the food is a great value and is prepared onsite… this is the gold standard but I think with a few tweaks - El Cam could shore itself up to be a downtown contender & maybe give the Social Spot, another well established, downtown food truck locale, a run for the money - but not now. At least not with those prices…there are way to many other great options...
Read moreWent here for the first time tonight hoping to get some to go food. We went around 9:15 so some of the trucks were closing already. We ordered a pizza at Doughboy, a plate of tacos from Cevichero, and two aguas frescas from La Elotera.
Pizza: came out in a timely manner and the guy running the truck was nice but when we got home the dough was a little undercooked and the pizza was barely cut so we had to cut it ourselves.
Tacos: the guy who took my order was INSANELY RUDE, when we walked up to the truck he was chatting with the other person working the truck and when he got up to take my order he sighed and rolled his eyes at me. The girl that handed me my food later was super nice though. The tacos only came with one tortilla which we thought was weird and it made them difficult to eat because they fell apart immediately, there was also a random chunk of meat in the middle of one of my tacos that was big and I couldn’t tell what kind of meat it was.
Drinks: girl who took my order was super sweet and the drinks were so good but only downside was I didnt know they didnt have to-go lids until after I paid but that was my fault for not asking.
Overall, even though the drinks were good and we’re judging 30 minutes after it was made, it feels like I wasted $40 because we were pretty disappointed and are probably going to...
