River Sun — Restaurant in San Antonio

Utter disappointment. I walk my dog regularly along the river and have seen this place under development for some time now. Finally saw that it was open so decided to try it. The sign out by the river said there was vegan food and natural wine so I was excited to try it. The place was empty except two gentlemen who appeared to be employees. One behind what appeared to be a bar but was empty. I asked for a menu for which they held up a chalkboard to show me the food but followed with the fact that there was no food today even though the sign out front said otherwise. They mentioned the bar inside was open so I started walking in and they quickly stopped me to tell me that dogs aren't allowed. I wasn't able to try the food or drinks. This is one of my favorite new spots in San Antonio!! Beautifully tucked along the San Antonio River in the Museum Reach, River Sun is a true gem in our city. They have jazz music on Fridays and Saturdays that show a number of talented musicians. The bartenders and doorman are incredibly welcoming and professional. I encourage you not settle for a typical mixed drink, but to try a creation of the talented bartenders' choice. River Sun is a great place. The drinks are too pricey and they lack variety in my opinion, but they are only slightly above average for downtown for drink costs. That would be my only complaint, but even that wasn’t too bad at all. Overall we had a great time, and the atmosphere was amazing. The changing colors on the walls was a very nice touch. There are very few places where you can find really good live music in this town, and River Sun is definitely one of them. Get there early though, as there aren’t a lot of tables.
