Good food and nice people

I think I saw another review say the cashier is also the cook, which was true. We caught the owner at a bad time when he had to leave but he still took our order and we got great quesabirria tacos for takeout. The birria and consome were very good, meat tender and flavorful, tortillas orange, salsa very spicy. Only thing is the taco is very flimsy and impossible to eat let alone dip in the sauce, so definitely wrap the paper around it. Doesn’t matter if we ate it in pieces though it’s still good. This branch of the TJ Birrieria just opened at pacific beach. small shared parking lot here. No bathroom inside but sink and soap for hands. Service was ok. Tacos came out quick. and with salsa in bottle. tacos not spicy. tasted good. maybe could use some salt or something with a kick. the quesebirriea was almost the same just a tiny bit of cheese added. not worth the extra cost stick to regular taco. space is small but not crowded, one outdoor table for two. grab some tacos and go...

During a week long work trip I visited 5 upscale restaurants in the Del Mar and La Jolla area. Some of those averaged ~$80/plate. While they were nice, and the food was good...none compared with this taco shop. Seriously. I'm from Tucson and know good Mexican food, but this place was ridiculously delicious.
