Unfortunately had a horrible experience there today.
To get the basics out of the way - the drinks are fine and the food is above average but overpriced.
But the service was horrible. We showed up to watch a playoff basketball game and was told they’d be changing it shortly.
After waiting a while, we got the game for about 2 minutes before the head bartender changed it to an old Indiana Jones movie.
We thought it was an accident and asked for some help in changing it back when the head bartender quite rudely dismissed us, noting the owner does not allow any non-local games to be shown. So both large TVs behind the bar would continue showing a random movie over a playoff basketball game.
We tried to talk to a manager but the only response was “the bar manager has more power than me and there’s nothing I can do.” The general manager was apparently in the office but wouldn’t come out according to the hostess.
Very disappointing given this place is a block from where we live but far too many other great places in the area to...
Read moreWent in for a drink. Did not eat. This is definitely a "cocktail bar" and they have the huge drink menu to prove it! Comfortable, casual space with a really high ceiling and softly light bottle shelves going all the way up one wall. There's one of those ladders on wheels like at a library for fetching bottles on the top shelf. Wish I knew which bottles were up there so I could order some and watch the bartender scale that wall! Impressive collection of tequila and mescal although I don't know much about mescal so didn't pay much attention. A couple of companions got flights of tequila which was three varieties. The shots seemed skimpy to me but it was hard to tell as they were in little brown cups. The flights are not cheap so they should be a good amount of booze. I didn't feel like tequila so I ordered a "kitchen sink" for $13 off the menu and it was very tasty. I'd definitely order it again. Service was unremarkable to poor. Nonetheless, RECOMMEND for...
Read moreOutstanding! The cocktails were tasty, beautiful and strong; the margaritas excellent and served in proper simple glassware, rimmed with the perfect amount of salt.
The tacos were exquisitely simple, with just the right amount of each of the very tasty ingredients included (the vegetarian option was an experience far beyond the sum of its parts) and the corn tortillas, which were very very lightly fried, were...well let’s just say I would be happy consuming a meal of only those tortillas. Some of the best tacos I’ve ever consumed. And I’ve consumed a lot.
The complimentary chips were crisp, light, fresh, flavorful and plentiful. They see served with three very fresh and very flavorful salsas, one of which (the green one perhaps?) was above and beyond.
Service was also excellent—professional yet friendly and attentive but never hovering.
Loved this place. Can’t wait to...
