Saucy Bachata Class at a Mexican Restaurant

I have been here 4x now and really *want* to like it, but all 4 times there has been something wrong w my order, so I recommend avoiding if you're a picky eater Pros: cool vibe, location, when done correctly the food is tasty Last time I ordered a carne asada burrito, which their menu this is supposed to come with rice, black beans, sharp cheddar, avocado, and sour cream, plus of course the carne asada. I was very unpleasantly surprised that it came with some surprise pico de Gallo that was not disclosed on the menu or by the server. (It also was inexplicably missing sour cream.) The server comped our burrito (I hadn't directly asked for this though I had indicated the pico basically ruined the burrito for me) though I cared less about getting free meal and more about having the menu ingredients actually match the dish. Tonight I ordered a carne asada burrito bowl, so basically the exact same ingredients as above. I made a point to ask for no guacamole (the physical menu in restaurant doesn't match what's currently on their website; the one I received tonight also listed guac) as well as no pico. The server was happy to oblige my request but when I flagged to him how the menu calls out a ton of other specific ingredients but not pico his response was "oh it's a Mexican restaurant, you should expect pico snuck in" (which IMHO isn't really reasonable when you're listing out other ingredients). Anyway, what I actually received was not only not a burrito bowl but rather a salad, but also not the correct salad ingredients. It had lettuce, corn, black beans, carne asada, avocado, guac, and chipotle vinaigrette (which are part of the salad but not the bowl that I had ordered) instead of the rice, cheddar cheese, sour cream etc. Also, it was inexplicably missing cherry tomatoes and jalapenos, which are supposed to be on the salad. I realize to some this may seem pretty nit picky, but as someone with food allergies I don't think it's appropriate to have a menu that gives the impression of providing a comprehensive list of ingredients but then just to omit some items and add others arbitrarily.

Delicious, creative food with very friendly service! They brought us free homemade chips (nice and crispy) and roasted salsa right away, which was a tasty start to the meal. I had the “Pig the Road Less Traveled” ($9- pulled pork simmered in banana leaves, achiote aioli, pickles onion) and the “Holy Shitake” ($8- achiote seasoned maitake mushrooms, roasted with onions; ground pasilla peppers) and the NSFW Horchata Frozen Daiquiri ($14). It was all really tasty! I split the Esquite corn off the cob with my SO, and it was more than enough food. My SO got the spicy margarita (which was very good & very spicy) and 2 tacos of his own: the “I wanna be loved bayou” (blackened salmon, pico de gallo, sweet corn) and the “You’ll remember me tomorrow” ($9 very spicy fried chicken, jalapeño, chipotle aioli). He also thought everything was great! We’ll definitely be going back and are already looking forward to it!

The place was a hidden gems. food was spot on. The manager was super approachable and welcoming. I went in there today with my wife.. there was a sign outside promoting margarita specials, I approached the establishment and wanted to eat there. The manager went ahead and sat us down. I asked him about the margarita special. He said it wasn’t for today, but he’ll honor it. I said thank you very much. Fast-forward, we ate the food I asked for the bill. The one that was serving us was the bartender. With whom I confirmed he was a bouncer before just became a server not so long. This is vital information! After obtaining the check, I noticed that the margaritas were full price, I approached the server/bartender and advise him that the manager just advised that he was going to honor the happy hour Margarita price.. well then he approached the manager upset, that he promised us happy hour prices. He came back to the table and he said he couldn’t take care of the prices for happy hour but he said he will take only one drink off to emulate the discount.

I had a discussion with him paid and left.

His answer “was that the owner was going to be upset that we honored happy hour prices. First informals when I enter the establishment it was empty, at 3pm. there was a sign outside, saying happy hour. The manager gracefully honored it, which was noble. Then I have to speak to a bartender/ server that just became a server, not too long ago from being a bouncer that wouldn’t honor it. That is wild and unacceptable.

That bartender/server knows nothing about taking care of a customer and should go back to bouncing instead of being a bartender.

I don’t know if he’s a manager or not, but he spoke Spanish and he was running around helping the bouncer bartender. That manager deserves a raise, he goes above and beyond the call of duty now because of my situation he was truly working.

Date of visit 6/8/25

At the end of the day mistakes happen, the happy hour sign should have not been out. BUT! Guess what, I went in your establishment because of that, the manager made it happen versus turning me around. My bill was 100+. Because of his decision not because of the...

FRAUD ALERT!!!!!!!!!..... STEALS MONEY ON CC. PAY CASH ACTUALLY DONT GO

Oh man where to start.... walk in and no acknowledgment of presence for 1st few mins until I ask is it just sit anywhere, which yes.

get seated & wait 10mins for menu and water, which prompted me to actually start timing how long things took

we ordered and it's been just over 45mins. My soda and food are no where to be found

I ask for the chips and salsa they give to all tables to have something at least, although this added to my thirst while my water cup stays empty. We've seen about 3 tables get up and leave at this point after having ordered. I'm tempted but hungry. Oh the conundrum

okay we hit the 1hr mark, food and soda still hasn't arrived and water glass still empty. I ask waitress who was hiding behind a pillar for most of the time. Her response "well that would mean I have to go down to the kitchen and bar." ... ummm ya what in the world?! I ask her should I do it, which she said yes to. UNREAL

I go get my soda while she brings out my cold pork belly. Food was not good at all. Gave it back to her and sat hungry as I finished my soda and friend had her soggy salad

we go back to behind the pillar again to find our hiding waitress and get the bill. She then covers her hand over the price as she says $30 to my friend while putting cc up to the payment reader. My friend asked for the receipt, which showed $30. Then she gets a notification from her bank saying she was charged $90

waitress giggles and says whoops! Big surprise she can't figure out how to make a refund, so we wait another 20 mins while she gets cash.... Complete scam artist and a bad one at that.

Waste of...
