I've been to over 100 doughnut shops and this one is amongst the most unique ones. They use a potato-based dough that gives extra density to their raised donuts, while maintaining the delicacy you'd expect from them. If you like raised donuts that are light as air, these might not be for you, but personally I love the extra chew. Their cake donuts incorporate some excellent spices in the base, and they're also pretty thick. One of the best donuts I've had in recent memory was their cinnamon roll, with lots of spices and a subtle amount of raisins (which I didn't expect to love). They also make vegan raised donuts/cinnamon rolls, which suprisingly don't sacrifice any quality of taste compared to the rest of the donuts. Lastly, they do a daily "crodough." They are pretty good, but that's where I'd prefer to have the light, buttery texture of cronuts I've had elsewhere, instead of the extra density. Overall, this is an excellent donut shop that you shouldn't overlook!

ok i’ve passed by this place a couple of times but i’m always in a hurry, until yesterday when i finally had some time to stop by at this place, i already knew that the doughnuts at this place are made fresh on the spot from all those times i’ve passed by in the past since they have big glass windows that are right in front of the kitchen & you can literally see them mixing the dough & making the doughnuts so from that once again i repeat i knew that the doughnuts that i would be buying here are fresh! & boy was i not wrong! i ordered the raspberry delight! & yes it was a delight eating this doughnut, the dough was difinitely fresh! & the raspberry filling...even if i described it, it wouldn’t make it justice, u have to try it to know what i mean, it was something i have never tried before in a doughnut, it was a delight! the prices are a little pricey but its soooo worth paying because your difinitely getting what your paying for. If your ever in the neighborhood & u pass by this place, don’t think it twice just go in & enjoy the best doughnuts in the city! oh! & the staff super friendly! P.S. i think this place beats Dynamo Donuts by a little, i’ve tried them both & i have to say Johnny Doughnuts beat Dynamo by a little bit just a little, but both are...

Hip, clean atmosphere, long layout with lots of seating. House made doughnuts and equator coffee...

I don’t know if its because I came in on a day after a holiday but the dough seemed old and tuff in my two doughnuts I had. Maybe they are using some sort of flour that makes it that way but this is not a fluffy doughnut it’s very dense and chewy. The counter staff member put gloves on and stood there staring at me. Nothing was said until I said “we ready?”. Maybe I’m of an older age of service where you greet customers when they enter an establishment. Again it’s july 5th and maybe that particular staff member had a big night. That’s not even my issue really...

The actual problem was with the coffee. It tasted like they took perfectly good coffee and figured out a way to make it taste like it came from 711 in the middle of the night. Equator roasts some incredible stuff and whatever they did or didn’t do made the entire experience miserable for me. You offer two things doughnuts and coffee, you slippin on both. Call equator get a trainer out to calibrate your brewer, make sure you are on your FIFO and follow the darn recipe provided. Be humble and respect the hard work your coffee provider did.

That’s my...

This happened in October 2023, during a visit to San Francisco from Mexico. We were strolling through the city when we came across the most charming little donut shop. Naturally, we were excited to step inside and try some of the delicious-looking treats.

But as we walked in, we learned the shop hadn’t officially opened yet—they were still running tests and getting ready for their grand opening the next day. We asked if we could buy something anyway, but they kindly let us know they were closed for the day.

A bit disappointed, we turned to leave. Then, to our surprise, someone came after us and handed us three free donuts. It turned out the owner had noticed we were tourists and realized we might not be around the next day to come back.

That small act of kindness truly stayed with us. It’s not every day that someone goes out of their way like that—especially for strangers. It was a simple gesture, but it meant a lot.

Thank you for that moment and for those delicious donuts. I hope to come back someday and...
