The easiest, single handedly, best experience I've ever had with a waiter was at this Restaurant. His name was Grant Colley.
I ordered the SEOUL-MATE (a poke-bowl type thing), and honestly, it's a deliciously crafted meal, but it just wasn't for my taste buds. Only thing I liked was the beef/steak slices. The bowl itself was $14. Now, I'm not the one to cause problems. If I didn't like something I ordered, I'd just bite the bullet and learn from my mistake and think "I learned I didn't like this. I will remember that next time I order." And pay the bill and be on my way, but I just didn't feel comfortable paying $14 to eat 8 slices of steak with some rice. Again, the meal itself is delicious and well-made, it just wasn't for me.
So I flagged down a waiter, Grant Colley, and I expressed to him my situation and if there was anything that could be done. I had an idea to replace my meal with the Crab Meat Handroll (insanely delicious, seriously. If you like crab, get it). Now, I've watched experiences like this before- the customer says they don't like the meal, they want a recomp, and the waiter argues, a whole scene is made, and it just gets nasty.
but Grant Colley served me and dealt with my problem in the utmost respectable and honorable way you'd expect to get treated as a paying customer. He didn't make it a big deal, and even kept his response quiet so as to not cause a scene for the other customers. Really made me feel comfortable in such an embarrassing situation.
All in all, Grant Colley gave me the crown jewel of customer service, and I wish I could have tipped more to show some gratitude to the amount of superb customer service he gave me. I simply have not experienced such a pleasurable encounter with wait-staff until Grant Colley. Truly set the bar high for my future dining...
Read moreUpdate: We gave them another shot. Food was delicious, wasnât busy so we were able to be seated immediately. I gave them two extra stars for the second visit.
Beautiful place and the food sounded amazing. Unfortunately the terrible customer service didnât allow us to actually try this restaurant. We walked in and there were many tables open. We were told there would be a 10-15 minute wait because the kitchen was backed up. Totally fine, especially because I know the restaurant industry is struggling right now to find staff. Even with many tables opening up outside, we waited 30 minutes in the hot sun sitting on the gross sidewalk, not allowed to sit at an open table. After the 30 minute mark, we asked for an update, and were told it would be another 30 minutes or so, because the kitchen was still backed up. It wasnât that busy, and we wouldâve happily waited if we were allowed to sit at a table inside and possibly order cocktails⌠which we were not. We were told we could sit at the bar, but only after my husband asked, and the host asked someone else above him, who reluctantly obliged. Super off-putting, so we walked to Flying Monk, where we were seated immediately in the busy restaurant, and received our dishes and appetizer within 10 minutes of being seated. I understand being short-staffed, but that is no excuse for poor customer service making people sit on dirty sidewalks to wait over an hour for an original estimated 10-15 minute wait when there were at least 10...
Read moreI love their food. The ingredient are fresh and of the highest quality & the flavor is terrific. However, the featured items in every category & especially their bowls are completely overpriced. A few slices of a protein on top of rice, vegetables & kimchi doesnât warrant the hefty price tags these items have. Even with the hefty price tag I would have kept returning, BUT the service is horrific. Iâm trying not to exaggerate but the atmosphere is nothing less than hostile. The hostess is rude & dismissive, the server was absent & seemed rather put out she had to engage us at all..order taken & food delivered with as few words as possible & getting the bill delivered & paid for was a trial of our serverâs patience. I had to pick up an order for a friend and was told to see the bartender because the hostess informed me that she knew nothing about any of that and only the bartender could help meâŚso, I saw the bartender who asked for âNameâ and I said my last name because thatâs normally whatâs asked for and he said âThatâs the name? What a weird name? âŚwho has a first name like that? Sorry..thereâs no order with that nameâ I gave him my first name & got âOh, here it is!â Everyone I encountered was awful. Iâll mis the...
