UPDATE: I have not heard anything from either owner and neither has my GF who also tried to contact them. What I HAVE heard is that there has been at least one more aggressive interaction with the guy at the Whitemarsh location and the incident ignored as well. Maybe he IS like family. Like the kid that your friend refuses to discipline when they are throwing rocks at passing cars or the 45 yr old brother they put in the basement with a new video game in hopes he won't come out during dinners with friends. Buyer beware of the Whitemarsh Lulu's.
ORIGINAL POST: This is really sad, actually. I've gone to Lulu's for decades. But after this, I guess I'll never go back.
My gf, dad, and I came to the Whitemarsh location, as we often do (did?), with our dog. We left Calvin (Golden-doodle) in the car with the AC running having a pupscicle of his own. There were a couple of women drinking at the bar. We sat in a booth where we had full view of our car and Calvin in it. The bartender goes out and starts staring at our car. I walk out and say "Dont worry, the air is on." He goes, "You should turn the air on." "I just told you the air is on." "Where I'm from, you'll get a brick thru your window for that," he says. This was slightly annoying and I again told him the ac was on, in a slightly annoyed voice. He says I screamed at him. I did not. He gets really silly kinda crazy upset and starts screaming at me. Like really screaming. Then walks to the back in a huff.
Whatever, I just want my pecan praline pie. The waitress takes our order. Bartender comes out and screams "You wont look at me like that in my bar!" I'm across the room and have no idea whats hes talking about. Even if I WAS looking at him funny, really, dude? You're a bartender. This triggers you? "Get out of my bar" he yells. "I'll call the cops for trespassing! I'm the manager. I'm like family with the owners!" "Like" family, huh?
At this point my father leaves and my gf pulls me out to the tune of inebriated bar women.
The sad part: I called the MLK downtown location to speak with Jan and/or Rebecca (the actual owners) and a very nice bartender picked up. I explained I wanted to talk to the owners about it before posting reviews. She apologized for the incident, thanked me profusely (very nice), and said she would give them the message. She said I could call back the next day. I called back and left another message, leaving my name and number this time. My gf sent them a nice email trying to get a response. That was 3 days ago, and Nothing. Really sad the owners won't take the time to call a patron who has been supporting them forever to at least get their side of the story. I know I'm just one customer, but come on. They obviously know there is some recent incident. And, they are OK with a harassment complaint about this guy? Even after he came out of the kitchen, instead of just pouring drinks, he picks a fight with me from across the room about how I'm looking at him? Claiming he's "Like" your family? Exploding violently in the front of the restaurant? Is he claiming I'm some drunk at 6:30 with my father and GF wanting to torture my Golden-doodle by leaving him in the car? If you have a doodle you know how spoiled they are! Is not following up on this a liability? Have the owners had complaints on this guy and leave him on staff without even following up? It seemed way too extreme to be an isolated incident. Has this happened before and they just choose to ignore it? Are they too busy to care?
I dont know. From the empty bar I'd say they could use traffic. Especially from locals. I guess its actually good that I wont be there spending $65 for 3 desserts and drinks. Its just too bad the owners won't at least call me back to find out if its something they need to look into. I would. I can easily see the guy getting physical with a little more alcohol and attitude. So, anyway....

Read moreUmmm... I was very excited to try Lulu's I heard so much great things about them that I just have to give them a try. So a girlfriend and I linked up one Friday night and decided to give them a try. We got their about 8:25 an had a 15 minute wait which I thought was pretty great considering it was a Friday night. We get seated and our waiter was great he was knowledgeable about the product he gave great suggestions on what was good and what he liked and so far I'm enjoying my experience. The joys ends when we start looking at the desserts 🍨 and I decide on the White Chocolate 🍫 Cheesecake, the cheesecake tastes dry and limited flavor my guest ordered the turtle cheesecake I asked about switching my orders to the that to which he replied "no you can't do that you would have to buy a another cake", so I'm slightly annoyed, but I'm trying to make the best out of this night. So I'm like never mind I'll just ordered another drink I order a salt caramel martini 🍸 and when I say it was nasty 😷 yuck!' I was like I can't drink can you take it off my bill and he again was like "no we can't take it off your bill we can make you another drink" and I was like I don't want anything else I just some want to pay for that drink I don't like I'm already paying for a cake I don't like. So he's getting annoyed and he walks over to his manager and they talk for a few minutes and he comes back over and was like "my manager said you can keep the drink and we won't charge for it", but he say it in a way as if he feels I just order the drink just to complain, because I was upset about the cake. So I am no I don't want to pay for it so you can have it back. He took the drink didn't ask my guest if she wanted anything else came back with our bills, so I'm like ok cool no worries his tip is going to reflect his poor attitude. But I'm willing to give them another try in the...
