Just had dinner for the first time here and it really it the spot for us! Everything was super good! We ordered the truffle xiao long bao, supreme xiao long bao, truffle mushroom roll, pork belly, the chocolate xiao long bao, and strawberry/passion fruit frozen lemonades. I think the manager (Giovanni ?? I'm so sorry if I heard it wrong) came over to chat with us about the growth of the company, how we liked the food, and asked for any feedback. Like compared to Din Tai Fung, their food is very mid overall and I think they're way too hyped up. There's always something I didn't like there; too oily, not much taste, etc. and never really made a big impression. Dinntai Fung I think is way too hyped. Supreme Dumplings was quite the opposite; I was so happy with everything we ate. The soy sauce that had some vinegar in it and particularly the thickness of the xiao long bao skins were great. It actually reminded me of a long standing dumpling place in the International district my family had been going to for the past 20 years and had be comparing any dumplings to hers ever since (but has recently changed her recipe unfortunately and the skins are too thick). So I was extremely happy that xiao long baos sparked that food memory for me! In addition, the service was great too, I was watching the employees every once in a while and they seemed to have a good flow, good attitudes, and patience. I liked watching the two behind the bar bicker with each other, and happy they can have some fun while they work. I liked how they asked us if they wanted to go over the menu with us, they showed us the symbol key at the back of the menu in case we has any dietary restrictions, and pointed out the restroom if we needed it. Majority of restaurants in my experience never did any of that! We live a few blocks from the restaurant and aim to be some...
Read moreThe whole experience was amazing! First I want to mention how great of an idea it was to have the friends and family of the staff come and eat for free and try out the food. In that situation literally everyone wins and it shows what kind of establishment Supreme Dumplings is. Before The grand opening, the staff get to practice how running the restaurant, and the customers enjoy good food. I just thought it was cool and wanted to mention. Now as for the service, I would say that I have no note. Given the experience was free made everything a whole lot better, but even if we did have to pay (witch i wouldn't mind at all because their prices are amazing too) I still would have had an amazing time. And a good reason for that is because of our server Isa. From start to finish she was great and we had a great time dining and talking to her. She was amazing on checking up on us and ensuring we had a great time too. (and If Isa sees this; I really do appreciate you putting up with us.) We for sure took advantage of the free food, and I'm just thankful that we had a waiter that put up with us. Great work. The only thing I have left to say is about the atmosphere and the location. They are both a 10/10 as well. so there not much. However me an my friends noticed the art on the wall and it does look like AI witch is just funny and worth a mention. Overall 10/10 experience and i would recommend anyone to go and eat there!! And a shoutout to...
Read moreOverall the food is very good. I got the crab xlb and the flavor of crab is very strong that you can taste it. The shrimp fried rice was also pretty good. The only thing I don’t like is how tight the bar space is. You really don’t have any room to move. This includes going to your seat or exiting out. It’s not as bad if you don’t have people next to you but it’s very tight.
The manager and the bartender are very nice and would try to resolve the issue. I ran into a problem with membership and I was not able to get the points despite the best effort from them. It seems to be a system issue and I will try to contact the customer service.
The ginger for xlb is a mix. I noticed some of them would come automatically and for me, I had to asked for it. There are also tables missing soysauce and hot sauce and the person from the table came to the bar to take the soysauce and hot sauce.
Given this was on their opening day, things are a bit chaotic and I am sure it would be settled in the future.
4 stars rating is due to the tight seating space. I am not sure how much they can do to fix it. May be possible to remove the metal bar at the bottom of the bar seating area to make it easier to move the bar...
