Just recently discovered this Village Inn tucked into The District. We have since been 2 or 3 times and each time the service has been good and so has the food. We went in today looking for lunch standards like a Cobb salad and Club sandwich that isn’t $25 a piece and were happy with our choice. This visit was different. From the minute we walked in Madalyn greeted us in a professional manner and asked us to follow her. This in itself is remarkable as most places the person sighs picks up the menu and shuffles to a table without even saying hello. She then cheerfully waited on us as 1 of only 2 tables in the place. Super attentive and returned to check on us at a good pace instead of disappearing to return only at the end with the check. At one point my husband asked for pickles on the side for his sandwich and she replied that they were already on the sandwich and asked if that was ok. She took ownership of the concern and offered to fix it if it wasn’t ok. My husband assured her would have put them on any way and we enjoyed our meal. She returned when we were finishing up offered a to go box and asked if we were ready for our check or if she should check back. We agreed we were done and she handed us the check to sign and my hubby left a decent tip. As we were leaving she wished us a good day. I called later to leave a good word with Lance the manager on duty and asked him to thank her for her excellent service. I came here to let others know that the saying you never know what someone is going through so be kind was embodied by Madalyn today. I was having a rough day and she brightened it up with her excellent service and pride in a job well done! Thank...
Read moreI typically don't write negative reviews, because it's actually difficult to come across bad enough experiences that are worth talking about. However, this became one of them. At around 5 PM, we ordered two pies online: the peach pie and triple berry. This order was meant to be picked up at 7:30. We came to the restaurant 10 minutes early (7:20) to be told that they did not have our triple berry pie, but we were welcome to choose another pie. While this is a nice gesture, I am wondering why we could not have been told this sooner as we had accompaniments paired specifically with the pies chosen. Then, at 7:31, we were given a call (when we were already on our way home) in which we were informed that they did not have our pie (even though we had picked up our order already), but that they could check their freezer to see if they had another, which would take another hour to prepare. We appreciate that we were given a call, but why couldn't they call us within the two hours before our pick up time? We understand that it's a holiday today. But what we can't understand is how our order couldn't have achieved an appropriate resolution before we came to pick up our order. We appreciate your guys' business, and hope return to a better...
Read moreBe aware!! We walked in and it was empty. Then they told us there was a 25min wait???? We looked around in disbelief thinking how is that possible no one was in there. The snotty Host lashed out and said if we didn’t like it then we can leave!? Due to covid 15 tables at a time. Well ok explain that in a polite and professional manor then?? We waited and waited watching people walk out and in that would get seated! When we inquired he said another 15 min because no one had left. Yet we were by the doors watchIng people come out?? Finally after waiting at least 25 min we asked again and the Host said “I already told you it was another 15 minutes. Ya know what I’m just taking your name off the list!!!” We asked for the manager and he is clearly the reason behind why the Host behaved so poorly. The manager basically called us liars because he didn’t see or hear any of it, he wasn’t there. We had our kids with us they witnessed it. We understand covid makes it hard on restaurants and we are trying to support but we have NEVER been treated so poorly. Completely unprofessional. We have been coming there for years but will never go back and support this type of...
