Update: I changed my review from 2 stars to 4 because the owner of the establishment followed up and spoke with me on the phone to hear about our experience. She apologized sincerely for the negative experience and offered to have us back for some complimentary cocktails or to refund our tab. Having worked in customer service, I believe that honest feedback is necessary and gives a chance for the business to strive to be better (or keep doing what they’re doing, if they’re providing a positive experience). I would be willing to visit this bar again after my chat with Jessica with hopes for a better experience and a happier bartender. :)
The speciality drinks were yummy and the pull tab cashier was so nice, but that’s where the good ends. The bartender was incredibly unfriendly when taking our orders (after we spent quite a bit on pull tabs at their establishment, no less) and proceeded to flick my husband’s credit card onto the bar to get it to him from the register instead of walking the six feet to set it down. We quickly decided that we didn’t want to spend any more of our hard-earned money here and closed out, choosing not to tip the bartender due to his rude demeanor. When I checked our bank account a short time later, our card was charged $25, despite a total of $17.25. My husband returned to the bar to request a copy of the receipt, so that he could follow up with management regarding the experience and perceived overcharge at a later time. This encounter was equally disappointing, as the bartender made a snide comment about our last name. Curiously, when checking our bank account again the following morning, the card had been refunded $25 and charged the correct amount of $17.25. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt that the card was originally authorized a minimum that would drop off to the correct amount, but I suspect that the bartender added a tip for himself, hoping we wouldn’t notice. Needless to say, we will neither be returning, nor recommending No...
Read moreThe most rude people I've ever met work here. My brother and I were kicked out last night while celebrating a wedding because my brother didn't say his order fast enough and didn't fist bump the waiter after he gave him a condescending lecture. There was a polite way and a rude way to do that, and any good person could see that was far from anything polite. But it gets worse though.
(Edit: after reading this back, I realize how insane that sounds. It's true though though. There weren't any additional exchanges beyond that.)
After we told our family and began to leave, the bouncer started pushing me in the back while we were leaving. After we were outside of the bar, the bouncer came outside through the other door to talk to us. Honestly I was just in so much shock that I don't even remember much of what happened there nor do I know the reason for this. I know he never let us explain ourselves. He seemed more like he wanted to rub it in for some insecure ego reasons because it did nothing of benefit and put everyone at risk for their safety. Luckily all that happened was he created a scene infront of other customers. I guess I understand this must be how he treats everyone because he said he didn't know why he was told to kick us out. He just defaulted to...
Read morePretty good dive bar in Stillwater. They are a little deceptive in that they have a sandwich board on the sidewalk advertising very cheap well drinks, but some upselling occurring inside. Once you get inside there are some mixed drinks on the menu that have no price listed. If you buy one of these instead of the advertised well drinks, you may be shocked that they charge you $12 per drink. To be fair, these cocktails are pretty good. If you order one of these "fancy" mixed drinks, they will surprise you again by requiring a credit card deposit for the dumb copper mug they serve the drink in. This seems vaguely scammy as well.
Otherwise the bar is filled with savvy locals who don't order the expensive stuff. It has ski ball and ping pong which are very fun. They also seem to really aggressively reply to any critical online reviews so I'm looking forward to their reply...
