I really wanted to like Crispy Cones. I saw them on Shark Tank and was so impressed with the concept of a soft donut-like cone. I even contacted the company about Franchise opportunities. I currently live in Dallas, TX. My daughter lives in Scottsdale so on my Thanksgiving visit, I insisted that we try Crispy Cones in Tempe. I was SO excited.
Unfortunately, the Crispy Cones concept on Shark Tank is NOT what I experienced. I ordered a cone with ice cream, and to my disappointment, the cone was room temperature (not warm) and sitting out exposed to the air so it didn’t taste fresh at all. The spreads were sitting out on the counter and looked a bit unsanitary, see photos.
So the cone is filled with a spread and toppings, then a large serving of soft ice cream sits on top. The finished cone is VERY unstable and must be served inside a small cup (and then a bigger cup because the ice cream starts melting and it’s a mess.)
I can’t imagine how children could eat this ice cream cone without dropping it or making a HUGE mess. Even as an adult, it was very difficult to eat, and to make matters worse — my ice cream eventually toppled over unto the table! All I could do was laugh because it was a comedy of errors.
I think everyone should get a warm cone that’s fresh. My cone wasn’t fresh and it wasn’t warm. The unique donut cone is the “big draw” for Crispy Cones and I’m disappointed it didn’t live up to my expectations. It’s not a franchise opportunity for me, I need to absolutely LOVE the product and unfortunately I don’t love...
Read moreWe were very disappointed. Since we enjoy Shark Tank, we try to support businesses that have been on Shark Tank and so we sought out Crispy Cones to give them a try. To begin, the cones are NOT crispy. They are like a sweet brioche or croissant and they have a hole in the bottom so the ice cream melts down into the cup and makes the cone even more soft/soggy. Second, there was only one person filling orders when the 3 of us went and she was so slow that my husband's was the first one and by the time my son received his cone, my husband was half way finished. Also, there was NO place to eat. The two extremely small outside stand up tables were absolutely filthy and there were no other options. I guess to save on rent, the company prefers to have patrons eat on the go. Not such a great real estate move (Barbara Corcoran), especially when it is hot in Phoenix for 6 months of the year and then the ice cream really melts fast!! Plus, patrons of ice cream shops include families so it is not practical to have kids with ice cream and no place to eat. Lastly, the price seems ridiculous for what you get. The ice cream is nothing special and there were only two flavors, vanilla and chocolate, because banana was sold out the Friday night we went there. And, not only was the girl making our order slow, she was EXTREMELY SKIMPY. She barely put any Nutella or Biscoff butter in the cones and the raspberry drizzle on top was almost non-existent. We definitely won't...
Read morei didn’t want to make a poor review however now it has been two times in a row we have had a poor experience, on 8/31 we came in for our ice cream per usual and found two hairs in one of our ice cream cones, i let it slide because it was a busy night maybe whatever, but tonight 9/13 we watched as they completed our order and the employee making the order scraped the toppings from off the counter and put it onto one of our ice creams, wether the counter was clean or not you shouldn’t be doing that in my opinion. on top of that my cone was still raw on the inside :( i hope this does not continue as we have been coming here for a while and do enjoy it, but this most recent experience might...
