The restaurant is family run which is usually a sign of a good time but in this case it was anything but good... the owners were definitely not around and left their children to take care of the restaurant. A young girl (barely a teenager) was there to greet us but she could not tell time... she greeted everyone with hun or honey which I expect from a diner not a lake front property offering lobster and steak. She mentioned 10 minute wait, which we accepted gullibly... the wait was actually more like 40... not horrible but not expected for arriving at 5pm...
After waiting at the table for 15min our waitress finally arrived. It was her first day and we could tell she was very stressed. We asked for two bottled beers and a dirty martini. 15 min later our drinks arrived and we found out that she was the only person running tables despite 3 employees sitting inside talking. The beers were normal (how could you screw those up) but the martini was sweet and came with an eyelash in it... we ordered three burgers (not trusting the steak or lobster at this point) and hoped for the best. We saw a dinner steamboat leave as we ordered and it wasn’t until it came back and the patrons disembarked until we got our food.... burgers cold and lettuce wilted... we finished our second round of drinks and asked our busy waitress if she had a moment.
It was the last red flag and it came a little too late. We told her our experience and the waitress (not us) asked us to we express our frustration to the manager. More mad than hungry we took the recommendation and asked to see the manager. Expecting someone with experience, a teenager came by and said we asked the waitress to speak with him as if he didn’t know what was the issue. Wanting to get away from the restaurant as quickly as possible we expressed our concerns, asked that the food be returned and the check for just the drinks. Before leaving the manager had the gall to say that Neptune’s across the street would not be able to give us better service. We didn’t ask and at that point we didn’t care, looking back it was just petty and immature.
More than 2hrs of our time was bamboozled from us from a location run by children. The food was cold and the drinks couldn’t even take the edge off of our frustration... All in all this is one of three restaurants that are on my blacklist (the others being in Hawaii and Nashville) that I would never recommend to family and friends if they come to Lake George, let alone...
Read moreSpare your wallet the agony and skip the Shoreline Restaurant. A girlfriend, my fiancé, and I dined at the Shoreline Restaurant during a visit to Lake George on Friday afternoon and to say it was a disappointment is an understatement. The prices are astronomical for an okay view, terrible service, and haphazard food. Despite the $17 price tag, I ordered a rare Farmhouse Burger- a bacon, cheeseburger topped with a fried egg and garlic aioli. The burger was delivered several minutes after the other two people I was dining with and was not topped with the egg or aioli. I sent the burger back to have the other fixings added. After about 10 minutes, the server literally came running out of the restaurant dining room (we were sitting on the patio) with the plate. She set down the plate and asked if I would like mayo for the burger. Disassembling the sandwich, I noticed that the aioli STILL had not been added. While she ran off to the kitchen to get the missing aioli, I began eating the well-done, greasy mess. Besides being a lousy hamburger, the fried egg on top was cooked over-hard and the white on it was so over-caramelized it was vomit-inducing. I’m not sure if the chef was so incompetent (s)he was incapable of cooking an over-easy or over-medium egg properly or if (s)he does not understand that the point of an egg on a burger is to enjoy the running yolk. Regardless, I’ve had better hamburgers in the area at a fraction of the cost. I had to laugh when the server delivered the aioli halfway through the sandwich. Seriously, don’t waste your time dining at this place.
(Two-stars because this is one of the few restaurants ON Lake George- even though it overlooks a parking lot and boat launch, patio diners can also enjoy obscured views of the northside of the lake and views of the commercial boats on the southside...
Read moreThe only reason they’re receiving a one star is because I can’t give a zero star. This was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the start, the place was basically empty at 7:30 on a Friday night, the staff was horrible. One of the hosts, I think?, was at the hostess stand CLEARLY intoxicated, and they were debating whether they should pretend they’re closed and not take anymore tables after us. It took them literally ten minutes to clear a table for the six of us because they were already pushed together and they didn’t want to move anything else, which would’ve been fine if they didn’t chat in between every two glasses they picked up. Finally we sat and ordered. We were starving so we got three apps with our entrees, only one was brought out as an app. We waiting 40 minutes for our food and we were the ONLY table left at 8:30! The whole time the staff was just cleaning up around us. We were never checked on. When our food finally came, it was ICE COLD. Every bit of it! Fish and chips, burgers, calamari. Everything. Was. Cold. How?! We we’re seated outside and we watched as they carried our food on trays inside and put them down and continued to clean, waiting for the other food. Just sitting there in the dining room. Luckily we were starving so we ate what we could and decided to just get out of there. We sat there for another twenty minutes, and when nobody checked on us, (I honestly thought they just packed up and went home), I had to get up and find someone to get the check. We paid and left. I will NEVER go back there again, and now that I’m seeing similar reviews on here about this place I’m hoping people head the warnings and avoid....
