This was my family’s first time visiting Lake Placid AND Emma’s. We have been here vacationing for a week and I decided on our last day we’d go to Emma’s for dessert as all of the photos I had seen of desserts specifically their beautifully crafted milkshakes (so I thought) looked not only delicious but, very aesthetically pleasing as well. They had appeared to be handcrafted so flawlessly that I had anticipated going all throughout the day. Well, we go inside and we are greeted by a younger guy with a smiling face and patience of a saint considering it took me bouncing back and forth between a few menu items before ultimately making a decision. Another person I. Our party had ordered promptly and was very clear about what he wanted. He received his order and it was incorrect. The person who made the sundae (not the first guy I spoke of) was extremely rude when asked if it could be corrected (before it even left his hands) he refused and said if he wanted it corrected he needed to pay for ANOTHER sundae even though it wasn’t our wrong doing but it was his. He accepted the ice cream despite the error and just decided to deal with it instead of trying to get his correct order. I ordered the strawberry cheese Milkshake. Now the milkshake was just like the photos I saw but, he ice cream was absolutely disgusting. The milkshake tasted freezer burnt and the cheesecake slice they provided was also freezer burnt. While I know this is a highly sought out venue in lake placid our first experience was anything but good. I wish I could’ve been writing a great review but I needed to tell the truth. I can’t speak for other staff members or this locations other dessert’s but, what we dealt with today and what we received was just awful. I would like to end it with ā€œI’ll be visiting this place again soonā€ but then I’d be lying because I’ll never forget how we were treated and what we were served. Also for those that are frequent visitors I have heard from locals that the man i mentioned is usually of a rude demeanor and that they’ve also received ā€œbad ice creamā€, so while others may have had a wonderful experience, my...

Wow.

I got the maple soft serve on top of edible cookie dough (chocolate chip flavor).

It was totally delicious and totally insane.

My thing with ice cream, is that deep down, since childhood, I’ve always fantasized about having a 50-50 ratio between the ice cream and the bits (cookie dough, brownie, etc). Have we all not dreamed of this possibility?! But of course, in the reasonableness of reality, the ratio is normally 90% ice cream and 10% cookie dough. But at this place, by ordering the cookie dough outright with soft serve, you can actually get the 50-50 ratio that we have all been dreaming of.

The outcome fulfilled my wildest fantasies, but also left me feeling like a dog that actually caught his own tail.. once achieved, I just didn’t really know what to do with it beyond the first two bites. The first bite was WOW. As was the second, and all the ones that my family picked at.

But pretty soon, you realize that it’s actually a lot of (amazing) cookie dough. The maple soft serve would be refreshing on its own, but could barely counter the intense energy of the cookie dough. So, it left me in a strange predicament: I was eating one of the best ice cream creations of my life—achieving a sugary fever-dream that I never thought would actually happen—but I couldn’t finish the darn thing. At the end, I recommend doing this and splitting it with 3-4 people. And be prepared to feel very heavy afterwards.. all in all, amazing experience.

Thanks to Emma’s for making my cookie dough dreams come true with a side of...

This place is almost always busy with long lines but my wife wanted the maple soft serve. She wanted it with the wet walnuts but was told they were unable to do that so at least they put them in a cup where my wife had to scoop out and put on her ice cream with a spoon. I wanted a simple banana milkshake and was told they do not have fresh bananas or any fruit for that matter. Personally, I have never heard of an ice cream place not having bananas as I thought they all serve some version of a banana split. So, I got a PB milkshake which was just okay, not the best, as they advertise, and honestly, Stewarts makes a better shake. All in all passable if you are really hankering for ice cream. They just didn't have exactly what we wanted. Also, I know it has been like this for years but the situation of the line, the way you have to go all the way to the back, and how crowded it gets in there is awful and I can't believe they have never figured out a way to improve that. There is barely enough room for one line, let alone another one that trails out onto the sidewalk. Not to mention, you have to stay in there and wait for your order, which makes it even more crowded. Not a good...

100% worth it despite chilly, windy day with snow on the ground, town full of people attending the eclipse and a line that starts outside and doubled inside the small shop. Advantage of standing in line allows you to view many of the options available that people were ordering. Some of it honestly looks like delicious art work and I wanted to sample all of them.šŸ˜‹šŸ˜„ In addition to ice cream they sell, slices of cheesecake, ice cream cakes, mochi, Whoopi pies and other items. There are also some novelty items and sweet treats for sale. Not ideal for disabled using transport devices. Parking is available on the street. Those serving were notably calm, unstressed and methodically gave each order individual attention. Don't think about the calories 🫤 Be sure to stop in to satisfy your sweet tooth. You will be not be disappointed.
