On September 12th my wife and I walked in looking to grab something to eat. We called ahead to ask if the kitchen was open, and were told it was. This was at about 10:25pm. We walked in right at 10:30pm and were told the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes if we wanted anything. When we ordered, our waitress didn't seem too pleased to be taking a food order, even though it was just two straightforward burgers. This started making us feel very uncomfortable. We figured we would just see where things went, but what really put it over the top was what happened when she took the order to the cook (we were literally seated in the corner with a clear view of the cooks behind the glass); She heavily sighed and said there's an order. The cook looked at her and started shaking his head and looked extremely pissed off because it appeared he started cleaning the grill before the kitchen was closed.
Suffice it to say, we will never be coming back to this restaurant as it is not only our first, but last visit. I suggest that the kitchen be closed earlier or people simply turned away if this is such an issue for your staff. We ate our food wondering in the back of our minds if there was something malicious done to it. The food was also cooked wrong, but for the aforementioned reason, we felt it was best to just eat what was served. Our waitress, who had red hair and never gave us her name, never once bothered to check on us.
Strongly recommend avoiding his restaurant, especially later in the evening if you're looking to...
Read moreThis place was pretty cool. DH and I came here after visiting another nearby bar that didn't have any food, mostly for the bacon. We had some drinks because Tuesday is all day happy hour or something like that. I got cinnamon vodka with cream to make a kind of horchata thing. Hint, don't use too much cream because the cinnamon isn't very strong. Anyway, the food was good, the server was great, and we got chocolate covered bacon with ice cream for desert! I've never had it before and it was pretty outrageous. The chocolate was SO thick on the bacon! It was very, very sweet and I like that, but I couldn't finish my piece of bacon (it comes with 2) and neither could my husband. I felt bad for ordering it, when would could have split just one piece of chocolate covered bacon. There was live music when we got there and a few people hanging out. The guy was pretty loud, like as if everyone there was drunk and he was just playing 70's folk music. It's pretty dark in there too. I'm not sure if we'll be back. Parking is difficult/non-existent. You know, downtown. If you're into these things, check it out! There is nothing wrong with the place, that's for sure. They have an amazing assortment of infused vodkas, and I wouldn't mind trying more of them out. It was a nice experience to go to Elliott's on Congress since we are...
Read moreI'm looking at all the comments and see that there's not 1 comment from a Afro-Negro. I would have gave no stars if it was possible. My experience at this place was the worst experience in any restaurant in my life. The waitress told me and my date that they couldn't serve us any cognac. After the meal where she forgot or claim she forgot to order our other 2 dishes when she clearly wrote everything at 1 time on the pad... I walked up to the bar where I was about to order a double shot of cognac. The waitress tapped on the shoulder of the bartender, whispering something in his ear. When done with all the whispering. I stood right there in front of the bartender for about 5 seconds where he tried his best to not acknowledge me. He asked me what did I need. I asked for 2 shots of Cognac. He tells me, (no bro! I'm not serving you and she is about to close you out). TF!! SERIOUSLY!?! Got my check, paid for meal but, 0 tip. I thought I missed the no coloreds at the door or maybe we should've went to the back door to pick up our meal. That's how me and my date felt after the experience at Elliot's On Congress. The funny thing is that after that night, I told some Afro-Negro friends of mine what experience I had at the restaurant. They said, yea... (You don't belong in there. They don't like our kind in there for some strange...
