Tad's Deli — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

The only reason I give 4's is because you can't improve on a 5. Everything can be improved but it's hard to be critical of Tad's Deli. The limited indoor seating was not an issue on a Wednesday afternoon in December. Had it been busy, we would have happily taken our meal out. The staff was cheerful and efficient, following up on our needs and the quality of our meals.

Three of our party of four chose the "box lunch" which includes a sandwich, side (chips, macaroni salad, or potato salad), a bottled drink, and a cookie. The fourth chose to have a cup of soup as a side, forgoing the chips and cookie.

The sandwiches were generously filled and the bread was soft and fresh. Meats had been sliced thin and complemented with the right amount of condiments. These are not your chain store sandwiches with an excess of bread and sauce. The soup (chicken with rice) was delicious and properly seasoned. The cookies were "home made"; obviously prepared in house.

You should definitely leave the beach and visit Tad's for an excellent meal.

Cubano, sliced ham and pork with provolone pickle and mustard, sirrachra chips, black cherry soda, and red velvet cookie.

Tuna salad on sour dough, chicken and rice soup,...

Tad's is cool. There is a place like this back home where I grew up and it was my favorite Saturday night spot.

Hubs and I like to stop in and get one of their huge sandwiches with a side and take it with us for lunch when we go kayaking nearby.

Their sandwiches are large and delicious and fresh. My mom recently went for lunch while in town to help us out with our newborn and she's been raving about it ever since.

They have a large menu of sandwiches but cool and warm, you can also build you own and have nearly anything added to one of their sandwiches or have them heat it up.

They have a rewards system I can't figure out - I'm not sure how/if anything is tracked but I've signed up for it multiple times so who knows...

Let me start by saying I am an extremely picky eater and I also don't usually leave a review unless something really changed my life. I got the VB cold sandwich with potato salad and mac and cheese. The sandwich is hands down the best sandwich I've had in my life, seriously life changing. This is the type of sandwich I would break a diet for. Perfect amount of meat, the house made sauce was so good, and for a person who hates leafy greens, the lettuce was so fresh and crisp I ACTUALLY LEFT IT ON THE SANDWICH. The potato salad was ok but not the best I've had, and the mac and cheese was unexpectedly spicy which does not sit well with me. The sandwich more than made up for it though which is why...
