Hi all, here's a quick breakdown for pros and cons:
Pros: ACTUAL menu options all seem to be incredible. I had the pastrami and my roommate got the corned beef and they were both New York Deli esque. Even the pickles were very good. Good prices on the food; not really overpriced, especially for Navy Yard.
Cons: They seem to be understaffed for their opening; they likely did not expect the amount of people in Navy Yard who have been craving a nearby Deli.... I waited 24 minutes from when I got my receipt and then had my order in hand - all for just a pastrami and bagel with CC. DO NOT ORDER BAGELS HERE. They give you the equivalent of a store-bought bagel and 2 packets of Philadelphia cream cheese. BY FAR my biggest gripe with the place. You can't brag about your bagels being "Bagels from da Bronx... Yes, Really" and then give literal Philadelphia cream cheese packets and a sub-par bagel. Pretty poor decision in my opinion.
I'll likely update this once I try other food - especially fish and veggie options, as my gf doesn't eat meat. Overall, I'll be going there often as I live on the block. But I'll only be going there for actual menu options, and when it gets warm, those milkshakes (with...
Read moreAs a native New York I take seriously when restaurants claim to have NY-style delis, pizza, or bagels. As for Beresovsky’s it’s great & much needed deli to the area but is NOT a NY-style delicatessen. The service is wonderful and very friendly( not NY style…but I prefer it) I got the Rueben & side order pickle $15 The sandwiches are good priced for the area, the bread is big and toasted well with large servings of meat. It was a tasty and filling however I noticed huge differences between a NY Reuben. Unfortunately, not to their fault, the area doesn’t have the demand for or supply of good traditional Jewish meats and food. The meat is sliced like everywhere else here, always large slabs; never thin sliced!!! The meat had a very smoky flavor and was very heavy on the fat. The Pickle was half sliced and though tasted semi-dill did not remind of pickles back in NY.
I may be going back to try the pastrami, but if I do I’ll be sure to bring the owners some of the best NY style pastrami, corn beef, chopped liver from Lido Kosher Delicatessen
It seemed pets are welcome &...
Read moreHere’s a “Herbert’s Fave,” currently their only pastrami sammich on the menu. This place has the best pastrami in southeast DC! Just kidding, let’s get real, this place has among the best pastrami this reviewer has tasted in the entire DC metro area! It’s not hand carved like Katz’s in NY, rather, it’s sliced on a meat slicing machine, but it’s still super tender, moist, and delicious.
The tomatoes included with the sandwich were perfectly ripe, and the marbled swirl rye bread was perfectly-toasted. The half pickle was just the right portion, and the cole slaw was worth eating, albeit a bit heavy on the mayo. But, that’s the way I like it. I’ll most definitely be back here again to try some corned beef next time, and, sooner or later, some more pastrami.
The location, across from the baseball park, and one block from Navy Yard Metro station on the green line, is incredible; I do speculate the sandwich prices will soon be increasing before long, so, get in and try this place soon!
There is great patio seating, and a lunch counter inside for a...
