Sure, it may be chicken, but it tastes like it was cooked in hairspray. It was incredibly overcooked and absolutely a bust. There were 12 people behind the counter and no semblance of a kitchen line whatsoever. They served every single person in line before me (about 15 people), and it took about 20 minutes for the worst chicken fingers in more than a decade. They made my mac and cheese, and it instantly disappeared. They gave it to someone else I assume because I’m not sure it takes 20 minutes to scoop a single cup of mac and cheese. After 15 minutes of waiting in front of the counter, they said they would have to cook the chicken tenders (maybe this isn’t something they normally do? Weird thing to say when we’ve been waiting there so long). And cook the tenders they did. You would think they’d been cooking for the whole time I was standing at the checkout counter by how dry, charred and rubbery they were.
I ordered take out, and they gave me silverware and a tray. I guess if you need a metal fork and a knife to take home, then maybe this is your place.
On the upside though, they didn’t mess up my drink! I had a bottle of Jarritos mandarin soda. It sure is a bummer when the only things decent are the premade items they didn’t make.
I hate leaving a bad review like this, but it was so overpriced that I’d like to warn other people about the expensive...
Read moreIf I could give CW Navy Yard 20 stars I would. I am writing this review as an ordinary customer, but also having hosted an event here. I think the more casual eateries in places like the Wharf and Navy Yard, the better, and CW does just that. Prices are so affordable, two people can eat dinner (4-8 pcs of chicken, 4 SIDES!) for ~25. $8 cocktails are on the casual side, but on the lovely bar to the left, just a bit higher from $10-13. The food here is always so delicious and fresh, I could eat here every week if I could!
As for hosting an event- CWNY will take so very good care of you. A huge shout out to Kris Carr, who I emailed about hosting an alumni board outing here and was extremely patient with all my questions and accommodating to my requests. Ginger the GM, and our dedicated server, I want to say his name was Marlin (but if I got it way wrong, I am SO sorry!!) checked up on us, made sure our party had food and drinks on time, and was so extremely nice. It was an absolutely great experience and I highly recommend Chicken and Whiskey Navy Yard for all your...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Chicken + Whiskey, which is conveniently located within walking distance, just around the corner from the Hampton Inn hotel. There are some picnic tables outside, so you can people watch while eating your meal (it is a nice option, for whenever the weather is nice). The ordering process is set up in a typical cafeteria style/ similar to subway sandwich shop ordering process. For my meal, I got a 1/4 White meat chicken w/ two sides (arroz blanco y black beans) meal. Initially, I was a little shocked to see some feathers still on the cooked chicken wing tip, but I ignored that part & went to town on the rest of it. It was very delicious! The chicken had a great grill fired flavor, and their amarillo sauce made it even better! (They referred to it as their 'mild sauce', but it actually has a little kick to it). The rice was not cooked all the way, so it was firm, but still tasted alright-- once the black beans were added. The staff was friendly. I would definitely recommend the food & will definitely eat here again...
