Golden Thai — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

I love the food here but the delivery service and customer service at the restaurant is horrible. On Thursday, August 11, 2016 I placed an order for delivery at 11:15am. The food did not arrive until 12:45pm. It took an hour and a half to arrive. I ordered the Seafood Combination which was $12.95. The delivery fee was $3.00 and tax was $1.49. I basically paid $17.44 for one dish of food. I didn't order a drink or appetizer. It was simply one dish and they couldn't get it to me by noon. This is very appalling. When the food arrived I called to speak with the manager to ask for an explanation. They said a manager will call me back. The manager never called me. I went on their website to email them. I did and haven't gotten a response since. Customer service is the last of their priorities, so it seems. Golden Thai

This was a happy circumstance. Our regular Thai place was closed, so we came here. I had eth Rama, the veggies were fresh, and the peanut sauce was not overpowering; it was a bit thick in consistency but had a good taste; I had mine with chicken.

The treat was the curry puffs; I have had these at another restaurant named Hong Min that used to be located in Chinatown. These are similar, but they do not have chicken, and the size is more smaller. But they had that similar curry taste, and it beats having to go all the way to 127th to Hing Min.

We really liked the food; the peanut sauce was so enjoyable that I could see us returning just for that dish.

Service was quick, and the place was super tiny; we noticed a downstairs area, but it was closed. I saw many orders going out for pick up and delivery, and it is close to a college so I fugure everybody orders.

Overall Golden Thai was ok. The positives are that the portions were a good size and the price was around $10 a plate. I gave it only three stars because my Basil Chicken had hardly any basil in it and wasnt nearly as good as other thai basil Ive had. It also had very little vegetables. Also, the chicken meat was strange. Rather than sliced up chicken it was more like ground chicken. It was kind of a weird texture that i didnt love. We also ordered pad thai. It was good, but lacked the normal pad thai taste. There were no peanuts and didnt have the normal flavoring we have usually experienced. This didnt effect my rating but i did get it a medium heat level. That wasnt very spicy. Maybe like a medium salsa. Definitely less heat...
