One of my go-to cafe spots for chilling and/or working during the week!
I love the location of Strings of Life - tucked just behind some buildings on the always buzzing Melrose Ave, it’s like a quiet & peaceful little hidden oasis right there.
I just always feel so relaxed while I’m here! There’s an outdoor space with some tables and nicely cushioned chairs, in addition to the seating in the cafe itself.
The service is also very friendly and quick every time I go - my order is always ready in basically no time at all. I find the employees here to be way friendlier and nice than a lot of other cafes in the WeHo area.
Food and drink items are mostly the usual prices you can expect for a cafe in West Hollywood, but everything is always very fresh and high quality!
I often use this cafe for doing some remote work during the week, and the WiFi is always very easy and quick to use.
I highly recommend this spot for either a quick escape from the busy streets of WeHo, or as a place for...

I’ll start with the service, which was painful. The girl behind the counter was so busy chatting with a friend, that I stood there for a good 5 minutes without even being acknowledged. It wasn’t until a guy came out and asked if I was ready to order. He was warm, friendly and helpful. I placed my order and sat down, vowing never to return.
Then my Halloumi bowl arrived. It looked fresh and healthy. I was almost annoyed that if it tasted as good as it looked, I may have to return and suffer the awful parking and service. And it was a great bowl. They used quality produce and ingredients, making it flavorful and nourishing. The tzatziki complimented the grilled halloumi and olives. I was thrown off that there was fried eggplant in the bowl, which was not listed in the ingredients on the menu. But overall it was a great bowl.
Not sure if it’s worth fighting the parking and service, but I may give it...
Read moreI've been lucky enough to try SOL several times now, and it never disappoints. It's got a nice, quiet, shaded patio with seating wrapping around the outside of the building so you don't feel overcrowded. You can either order inside, or use your phone and order and pay directly from your tables, then they bring out your food. They're also pet friendly and have water bowls.
The staff is super friendly and accommodating too. They can get pretty busy, but the food still comes out fast and high quality each time. The manager, Joseph, went out of his way to make sure my friends and I had everything we needed.
Some suggestions from what I've tried thus far: Australian sausage roll, chicken bacon club, the Caesar salad (with Salmon), chicken Caesar wrap, the breakfast sandwich, and the FRIES. The pastries and coffee are excellent, and their to-go section with kombucha, energy drinks, and juices is very convenient.
Definitely worth...
