As a local resident who knows the operator, I want to do business locally

I went into the tonight intending to eat dinner and ordered fries and coffee and told who I thought was the waitress I would also be ordering dinner and she asked if I would like a drink and I ordered coffee. A tall gentleman brought my fries and then no one returned to my table to take my order.

Three other tables got multiple visits but nobody came back to my table. I walked to the front and asked why nobody came to take my dinner order and a third (young woman) waitstaff started ringing me out saying “we assumed you were done”.

I asked the blond young woman why nobody came to take my order and she just kept saying “sorry sir”. Then I asked the man who brought my fries and asked why he didn’t come back to my table after all staff visited other customers multiple times.

He said “I was not your waiter, she is” (pointing to the third staffer who was ringing me up). I told them if she was my waitress why did she NEVER come to my table while she and other staff were kicking back. I said the first girl (who took my order and brought my coffee) was and he said no she is “only” the busser.

I got charged $10 for fries and coffee after getting local discounts YESTERDAY. I was not rude or abusive and nobody even talked to me.

The vibe from the young girl at checkout was dismissive and hateful and she would not look at me.

I did not deserve the treatment I got and won’t be back.

EDIT: I came back to get a receipt and the waiter who swears he did not serve me and was not my waiter argued with me about whether or not locals get discounts. I asked him if the operator would be in and he just became defensive and evasive. One thing is for sure, if the boss isn’t around people get treated badly and it is very disappointing.

As the waiter on staff said when I told him I wasn’t going to argue with him “You don’t have to” like he won debate class. I’m sad to see this Jeff.

You lost me. Maybe you don’t even care.

An hour and a half later I still haven’t had a full dinner and will go home and cook.

Why mess with hungry people who want to hand you money?💰

It makes me want to start a home food takeout delivery business that serves locals and visitors so they don’t have to play the “maybe I’ll get good service, maybe I’ll get treated like a homeless person because I ordered an appetizer” game.

Yesterday I got good food, good service and a local discount. I left the server 100% tip. Today, I pocketed every coin of my .99 change.

This is the fourth time I’ve seen this kind of non-service for me personally but you don’t want to complain when staff have this kind of (ongoing) attitude towards paying customers.

The food is consistently good when the operator is on site.

If he’s leaving this kind of staff in charge, off hours, it is hurting his business and he either needs to pay them enough to care or pay 1 person enough to care for all the staff when the operator isn’t on site.

tl;dr - The busser took my drink and appetizer order and my waitress never came to my table even though THREE other tables received...

This dinner met my expectations until checkout. As a result, I would not recommend eating here.

Overall, the food was good; though a person with ordinary skill could have made all of the food without much effort. The point of failure for me consists of bad monetary practices that border on deceptive pricing. See my attached receipt and relevant facility practices to judge for yourself; though I’ll help lay it out. First and most notable, the 20% required gratuity is for all parties of 5 people or more. This is far smaller group of people than is typical for restaurants and the 20% is slightly higher than the typical 15% to 18%. I’ve never eaten at a restaurant who had a gratuity requirement for less than 8 people and I would not have eaten here had I known. On top of that, every restaurant that I’ve been charged an automatic gratuity at has informed me upon requesting a table for my party; they did no such thing here and all I had was my wife and 4 children (one of which is a baby).

Now, I normally tip between 15% to 20% (never less than 15%), but to force this level of a tip on a normal size family is in my opinion, ridiculous. Gratuity fees are typical for when more than one staff member is required to serve a table, that is the point, so that the wait staff and restaurant don’t take too big of a risk. To be fair, they did have two signs which pointed this out, but in my defense, you would never notice them among the dozens, literally dozens, of other signs surrounding them. Because they had signs, I find this practice to be merely a bad practice compared to Standard American Cultural Norms rather than a deceptive practice.

The deceptive practice was charging for children’s drinks when the menu stated that they were included in the meal.

Overall, I thought I was going to get ordinary food for the prices listed on their menu, but I got up-charged at every point...

We had dinner at this Diner after my family and I spent the day at the grand canyon for my birthday. We decided to check it out because of the google reviews and honestly I am really happy we did. It was like 7:45 and they actually kind of got a little rush. Our server was really nice the whole time. I thought it was cool she was nice when my boys asked for extra whipped cream. The place had super awesome vibes and I was a huge fan of the music Playlist that they had going.

Now for the food....My spouse ordered the claim chowder soup.. He said it was good. I got the chili and Ioved it. We also ordered the mozzarella sticks and they were a hit. I liked the shape of them as well. He ordered the fish and chips which was delicious. It also was all you can eat and a huge portion. I ordered the prime rib sandwich. Which is the only reason I'm giving the place a four star. The kitchen didn't make my order right so I had to send it back. They ended up just putting it on like a heating rack to melt the cheese and it made the bottom bun super soggy. They didn't add the jalapeños to it, the sauce, and forgot the cheese. By the time I did eat the sandwich it was good but like I said just soggy. We also ordered the pecan pie and apple pie.. they warmed it for us and put ice cream on top and it was sssooooo delicious. We will definitely be back for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert!!!

PS...

Because they had signs, I find this practice to be merely a bad practice compared to Standard American Cultural Norms rather than a deceptive practice. The deceptive practice was charging for children’s drinks when the menu stated that they were included in the meal. Overall, I thought I was going to get ordinary food for the prices listed on their menu, but I got up-charged at every point conceivable.
